Okay, so I fly a mastodon, I have my reasons -- let's go on. I'm thinking about fitting a couple rigs on it.
What's nice about the mastodon is that it's a shield tanker, which means I can keep all my lows for expanders. I'd like to use my rigs, then, to assist in aligning and warping out quicker after jumping thru a gate.
Sooooooo, seems I only have 3 choices -
2x LowFriction NozzleJoints II (or T1, whatever I can get) OR 1 x LowFriction NozzleJoints II(or T1) + 1 x Polycarbon Engine Housing II (or T1) OR 2x Polycarbon Engine Housing II (or T1)
What say all ye skilled math geniuses. or, does anyone have a formula or experience with such a setup.
thanks in advance,

Pure agility modifiers are your best bet, mass reduction I believe is only of any benefit when propulsion modules are active (Lower mass = bigger ab and MWD boost etc) -----

Thank Bazman.
I was feeling that way, too, but started wondering about such reasoning when remembered how nanos tend to get a ship into warp faster. So, I was thinking perhaps the -%mass rigging would work like a nano. Looking forward to seeing some others comment.

I cant fly one YET...but i am in the process of training for it. *** Not Just Cool...Warp to 0 Cool *** |

My other character flys both Minmatar transport ships. The Mastodon is a sick passive shield tanker. Infact, I find my Mastodon works far better as bait than a hauler. Funny that.
That being said, go for agility rigs -----

This is NOT true.
Though it may or may not make sense, you enter warp FASTER with lower mass, even with propulsion mods off. This can be seen very clearly with the new inertial stabs.
So, if you're already aligned, a lower mass will get you into warp faster. If you're not aligned, higher agility will allow you to align faster. I'd go for one of each.
Sad, but true. |

As I understand it, you enter warp when you get up to 80% of your max speed...so anything that lets you accelerate faster (lower mass at the same engine power = better acceleration) will let you enter warp faster. *** Not Just Cool...Warp to 0 Cool *** |

ok - sooooooo, it seems a 1 + 1 might be best to assist with alignment (the spinning thing) and then getting up to speed to actually go (mass reduction). Now, I suppose the only question would be: what does a mastodon need more help doing - aliging or getting up to speed quick enough to warp? If both equally, then, a 1+1 is the way to go. If one issue is more problematic than the other, however, it would call for 2x either one of the rigs. Hmmmmm. Guess I'll just have to buy 3 mastodons, with three accounts, then rig them out 3 ways, launch them all, jump and hit AP at teh same time on all three. lol.
