Just out of curiosity, how many have been noodling along PvP'ing.. PvE'ing and such.. all of a sudden your HDD goes wonky, game freezes and you can do jack shiiiite until the memory finishes dumping.
It's a bit of a problem methinks and one that needs attention soon, this was not an issue pre patch (or at least not as bad)
Wondering how many have lost ships, disconnects etc due to this new and exciting Memory Leak? and is CCP working on it?
oh and Llamas are teh ****znit.. just ask WinAmp

Just a quick question, is EVE garbage collected?

once or twice had this happen AS i activated a gate into a lvl4 mission. after taking 60% hull damage a number of times, i now turn on hardners+my DC before entering a mission =P
but yeah, the problem is hideously dangerous, and probably "doesnt show up in our logs", thus rendering reimbursement...improbable =P

Let's put it this way:
dalman's average death-ratio before Kali: ~3 ships and 1 pod per year
dalman's average death-ratio after Kali: ~3 ships and 3 pods per week
All thanks to this lovely problem. It's not rly fun to play with these insane freezes.
Can we get if fixxed soon plz???

My EVE window freezes regularly if I play for more than 6 or so hours without rebooting the computer. Mouse and the lights on the keyboard still work, but ctrl-alt-del or alt-tab don't do squat.

i'll sign this thread once again...
same stuff..
Locks up now and then for about 1 minute ish..
Reboot know and then fixes it but problem re-occurs quite often, especially when running multiple clients...
Each char has own dedicated client, can detect it easily hd goes mad in rpm and that client hogs up all remaining ram of the system dumbing it all away

My game does this. It locks up even more often if I'm running other programs in the background. I have turned off almost all of the effects and am running windowed mode.
512 ram with a geforce 7800 GS agp video card. I need more ram and hopefully I will not freeze up as much anymore when I get it. ---

After a long period with little problems, in the last week or so the problem depicted above has returned in force.

From my esperience thats happen when the computer ir repeatedly pinged in a short spawn of time.
The only solution seem to reset the PC.

i have the same problem and its very annoying. restarting the computer seems the only solution atm. i read several times that this starting to happen while jumping often, but in my case this cant be the problem. it happens randomly, even while afk docked in a station.

And I thought my machine was dying and have been laying aside ISK... er... cash! to buy a replacement that's next-gen ready.
Now I hear that I'm not alone with the random 30+ second (up to 2 minutes or more!) random memory dumps.
30 seconds listening to my hard drives (2x 250g mirrored Sata2 RAID) thrash so badly I fear they might crash... all the while I'm sitting in a belt with 2x BS, 7 BC, and numerous support frigs. Unlag at 45% hull and manage to rep just enough to warp out... at 7% hull and pretty much 0% cap.
Of course, had I lost the 300+ mil Sacrilege CCP would say 'nothing wrong on our end, STFU!'
And shutting down the client... OMG, minimum two minutes of complete system freeze while the client unloads.
Oh, and this is with a freshly cleaned and wiped cache.

yup.. this seems to happen a lot and its very frustrating. I have a new computer i just built and its stable for everything else, but in EVE the game will completely freeze for several minutes or permantly. Seeing how EVE is a hardcore game where if you lose your ship in combat due to something completely out of your control, either you have to submit a ticket and pray for a month or two for a response and if your lucky you get your ship back, or more often.. "its your computer problem so your ship wont be reinbursed" and crap like that.

Nothing new, this has been happening for years. I found that it reduces considerably if you increase the amount of RAM in your system. I think 768mb min, at least 1Gb with 2 clients, 1.5Gb with 3. Strange but true.

Freezes when jumping (worst) Freezes when docking. Freezes when undocking.
Combined with interface going nuts, buttons vanishing etc etc
All have become a regular since the 'Dragon thingy' (little pests!)
Caldari: Don't have to worry about transversal, falloff/optimal, cap, tracking, how your damage type is being tanked, ship speed, the direction you are moving... etc. Easy Mode w00t!! |

I have 2GB of ram on on Athlon FX proc, with a radeon x1600, and before kali I could keep all of my vid card settings cranked to max. Now I have to drop the overall slider down one notch or I get the memory leak/dump issue and can't run anything else besides Eve. I think it's an issue with the renderign of the new starfield.

I run 1 client with 2Gb of ram on a high end system and I have experianced two situations of crazy freeze up. One I left eve on when in a station, the usual 60/70MB of memory it took up jumped to 250MB for just station use, bizzar. The other time, I was AFK mining while I waited for a skill to train - without thinking I left it on while I went and ate, forgot about eve and came back a few hours later (to find a full hull) but also 1.5GB of memory taken up. OUCH. It was impossible to do anything but reboot the computer, despite me having 2GB of memory. I don't get that, some nasty memory leak there for sure.

I had a similar problem and couldn't figure out how to fix it. I just formatted my HD, re-installed Eve, got new video drivers, and set my graphics card software to Atari-mode... things seem to be back to normal now

So...
CCP, is there anything being done about this problem??
Or am I just gonna have to either /wrist or buy a new PC?
