We all want more players in this game and to help people stick with a game im proposing a new idea called "sponsor a NOOB". The basic idea is to help somebody who is new to the game to advance to a level where they can easily make enough to support themselves and advance to an indy and cruiser without being ripped off and mining for weeks in a bad corporation.
At the moment im looking for my noob who is silly enough to hang around my aera. Then ill get to know them and buy them a few skills so they can train up, eg indy, cruiser, mining, etc. so they can easily stand on there own 2 feet. If your rich enough then you can even give them a helping hand to get that cruiser/indy but with insurance!
Does anybody else think this is an ok idea. Its one of the first pro active ones ive had in a while

I prefer more random acts of kindness. I pop into help channel and help out the real n00bies pick one and send them 500K then wait to see if they notice. :)

What a newbie needs in better information of the game mechanics. Not being sponored with isk from players nor pointless mining 24/7 for isk and learn nothing about the game. Apart from being boring targets for Inflation Control Inspectors (tm) and learn petition whining.

I had an idea like that it's prolly still on the front page in the corporations forum. It would not be mindlessly giving ppl isk just to get them started and hopefully lose a few frigates in pvp. __________ Capacitor research |

It was fun to be a newbie, but many of us were in the beta, so fooling around diden't have any permanent consequenses.
A newbie that want's to try PvP in frigs or whatever can grab some friends and go to the chaos server.
Keep on flaming, lamers.

Every time I see someone mining in a rookie ship I convo and offer some isk for a basic frig. It's surprising how many reject the offer, I'd guess about 80% say they'd rather do it alone and good on them. I think there's a natural learning curve with this game and messing with someones rise to millionaire status could possibly mess with the curve! I do kinda like the idea though

I did that, but is wasn't someone random, it was my brother. I paid for everything he needed skill wise, and got him in a cruiser for mining. But It wasn't a very good idea, as now he has lost interest in the game completely and doesn't play. He didn't have anything to work for, and he didn't go through what we all did, with the pleasure of getting your first ship, with damn hard earned isk. So just help them through joining a corp and looking out for em, but don't go overboard, as it may lead to losing a player. Just my opinion, through a personal experience ===============================================

I think its a great idea. But at the same time, it would be detrimental to the noob if you help them out TOO much. I try to help out when I can, but it amounts more to advice and warnings about where not to tread lest they get themselves blowed up. And I'll give some isk for learning skills to. I think it would be in the games best interest if the least everyone can do is point the newbs to the general forums, so they can read up on what they need to know themselves. Its easier than spending a couple hours trying to explain everything you think they might need to know to avoid trouble. Thats all I have to say about that.

Our corp helps the members all the way, but I see no need for helping noobs if they dont want to join, because joining a good corp is a win win situation
