I have 3 accounts and usually play with 3 Eve clients running at the same time. I currently have a single processor pc and stay at 95% cpu utilization or higher. Does anyone know if the client would benefit from a dual processor cpu? I'm not a hardware guy so I don't know if the support for the second processor has to be in the game or the OS. Has anyone upgraded like this and noticed a difference in performance of the client(s)?
Thanks!

I've upgraded to a Core to Duo with 2.66ghz recently from a Athlon Barton 2800+ and it's makes a big difference when running multiple sessions.
I don't notice a difference between running 1 or 2 clients and even running Call of Duty 2 + 2 Eve clients don't make a noticable difference.

Nope, eve can't understand how affinity works.
Sometimes it will chug along just fine, but most times it just gets ****ed and crashes.

Works perfectly fine on dual core. I run it on intel core dou on laptop and X2 dualcore ont he desktop and never had a single problem. I upgraded my desktop from a singlecore to a dualcore and the main benefit is tht the system stays responsive even with multiple clients open. My high*****ed single core never had trouble with 3 clients tho.

Oh, that is so wrong.... Eve has nothing to do with afinity, windows sorts that out and eve is totally transparent to it. A single threaded program (which a single eve client is) can only utilise one core of a multi core system, if anyone ever finds a way to allow single threaded applications to utilise the full power of a dual core chip they will be in posession of a few million dollars of patent rewards.
The old problem of crashing on a dual core chip was a directX problem where it would try to utilize 2 threads to do processing quicker, get out of sync and crash the Direct3D application because it got lost and could not recover. This was worked around ages ago.
As for running more than one client, dual core is made for this type of operation. Each game client is single threaded so running 2 games allows each one to be on a virtual core and have the full CPU power available (I say virtual core as windows shuffles the threads from core to core as needed). If you run 3 clients then the 3 will be shuffled from core to core as needed.
I run 2 clients on my AM2 X2 system and even when one client starts to lagg due to lots of onscreen action the other client is free to do other things without any slowdown. I usually run with v-sync on as this caps the frame rate, reduces the CPU and GPU load and temps plus allows me to do other things as well at the same time. With 2 clients in station I get a CPU load of 35-45%, out in space I get from 80-100% load. ----
God gave us a brain, he also gave us a voice.
Shame some people have yet to connect them.

You don't even need dual cores, I found out years ago that my old HT Pentium was far better at running 2 clients than when I turned HT off in the BIOS
