Im going to be fooling around in different 0.0 now, and with Angel rats. I really hate angel rats...just so you know that. Anyways heres the deal-
Im going to be ratting in 0.0 for a living for now, and I am spec'd in Amarr. Im only using amarr ships right now.
Ive got a Zealot, Harbinger, Prophecy and I really hate battleships. I know all this about amarr T1 not being good against angel rats and so on. So im thinking the zealot would be my best bet with built in high exp, kin resistances.
Just wondering if anyone is currently ratting efficiently with either of those 3 ships, and get different views on which one will work for me best.

Angels are very tanked against em and therm so you will have a very tough time killing them.
I have heard there is success with an auto-pocalypse but i have never tried it myself and you hate battleships.

My zealot also has high kin, exp. So im tanked against them. So essentially the fight will be just like any other, just less overall damage and longer.
So out of those three which would you choose? Im a bit afraid the Zealot will out-run its cap.

I spent alot of time living in Omist region, only Angel out there some 110 jumps from nearest Empire. I too only fly amarr.
People say amarrs EM Therm Dmg sucks. However my Geddon with 7 mega pulse t2 and a webber does so much DPS that even with the resists they pop pretty fast. ITs also a nice contant tream of damage unlike torps.
You have no chance in hell with a HAC or BC though.
Time to start liking BS dude

Edited by: king jks on 31/12/2006 05:14:11 Zealot, you wouldn't really even have to put any resistance mods on it since it is already tanked to minmatar ships. Use lows for heat sink II's and CPRs.
Edit: at the "can't use HAC or BC" comment, my corp mate used to use a Zealot/Absolution to rat angels when I too was in Omist, he said it worked just fine, I don't know if he prefered it to his Apoc though.

since im always in war vs angels i have tryied lot of amarr ships vs that kind of rats zealot has decent firepower but cant tank and fire so long to take down a 3bs spawn prophecy does crap dmg , in the middle is the harbinger who can still display 5 valk TII not enought for angels , you can do 3x 1.7m bs spawn with absolution (and cap booster) but you will be always slower than a noob in dominix or a noob in raven or a noob in tempest... amarr doesnt work for angels no way if you still want to npc angels with amarr go for absolution/tachion+2 cruise apoc

Haven't read all the other replies, but:
RAVEN
6x Arbie seige, NOS, tractor beam 1xCL-5 large shield booster, rat specific shield hardners or multiple inv fields 1x ballistic control, fil the rest w/ pdu's
i think that was my setup...anyway, you need good skills but i could take down any angel in 0.0 using this plus inv fields

sacrilege used to be ok at killing angels with the ROF bonus on the hvy missiles. Now that its taken away and sac made even less versatile its prob better to use zealot. But use a raven imo. I use a machariel personally

The ultimate Angel NPCing ship for Amarr is the Curse. Shield tank it and use explosive missiles/drones, and you can't go wrong. Works extremely well with all of 10,000 skillpoints in shield skills and 50,000 in missiles.(Also works very well against Guristas, with Kinetic missiles/drones.)
Zealot is the absolute worst choice you can make for 0.0 Angels. It does mediocre damage and has no damage variation, so the Zealot's already mediocre damage is killed by the EM/Therm resist of the Angel rats. (No, I'm not talking about the 500k BS spawns that can be killed by a newb in a Rifter within 5 minutes. I'm talking about real spawns, with 90-95% EM resist)

i'd probably go for the harbinger, not taken it ratting out in 0.0 yet but if you can get your hands on some T2 heavy pulse and conflag crystals. ab, tracking computer and web in the mids armour rep, 2 active hardeners and fill the rest of your lows with heat sinks you shouldn't do too badly against them.
Though if you meet any pirates you'll probably get your killmail pretty quickly

Edited by: Sheraad on 01/01/2007 00:25:57 Using t2 ammo to rat is a little unnecessary, isn't it? And on what planet does the sentence "The zealot's already mediocre damage" make any kind of sense?
I'm amarr specialised and I used to hop in a blasterthron. ****ty skills I had for it and it worked fine, although you needed the odd warpout on really tough spawns. Then again, that doesn't really help you in the least. Hmph :P sorry |

Use curse with expl drones and expl missiles, as someone suggested if you absolutely have to go amarr.
Otherwise take 1 week to train for raven and never look back... Expl/kin = easy to tank on shields + expl torps = gg
The sad part is, it will be like 3 times faster than your zealot with a fraction of the SP invested into it :P
