I'm just about to begin my pirating career, but before I start, I was wondering where yall kept your jump clones. I thought of leaving mine in Rens, but then I could never undock if my sec status fell too low, right? So where do you keep your implant-filled clone? I'd like your input.

I fly with the implant filled clone. Implants are for learning acceleration, which I can't do If I'm never in the clone.

Leave one with implants in a station that sells skills. That way you can jump there and buy a bunch of skills whenever you need and jump back. Other than that, setup a couple of bases around different low sec/0.0 areas so you can jump to a different region if you get station camped or there is no one around to kill.

Jump clones are used for travel, not to sa***uard your implants. There is no point in having your good implants on another clone unless you plan on not playing for long periods of time. The only other reason to use jump clones for separating plants is if you have a really nice clone that you use for battleships/hacs, and another clone you use for frigs.
Put your clones places that are locked by highsec.
CCP are ****ers, and they have allowed free travel for pirates from placid to molden heath. But North/South routes are blocked to pirates.
So you'll want a jump clone somewhere along the main pirating chain, wherever you live.
Then you'll want another jump clone down south in the misaba area because its fun and its landlocked.
Then I'd recommend another clone up north in the jan area. There is some fun to be had up there, and it will allow you access to the northern 0.0 regions as well.
The last major landlocked area that I'd want access to is the area around tartoken. This allows you to pirate the small low sec chains around there, and still get into pure blind, which is always exciting.

There is really no point in having a combat clone with no implants if your a pirate, thats only good for alliance miners/npcers that pvp once a month and are too scared to fight with them fitted.
I just use my different implants for different ships (but tbh it never really works out)
I have:
slave for armour tanking
snake for frigs and some hacs
crystal for raven
atm, Im in my armour tanking ship and have standard implants fitted, my raven is parked with my slave set and my carier is parket with my snake.....but tbh thats just pure ******* Irish for you
