I don't see a thread and you are usually so quick to ask follow up questions. So last night about half of New Eden was kicked out of TQ.
Did someone accidently step on a cable?

Well you can call it as you like but I was talking to buddies on comms and they all discod at the same time and then the launcher couldn't connect at all.
Was able to log back in with the binfile but hickups like this in a fight can cost you things.

If I remember hearing correctly it was routing problems between certain parts of the world and the EVE cluster. Unfortunately unforeseen issues with the Internet can make a mess of things. |

It happened to me as well, got socket closed and unable to log back in for about 10min, then a couple more socket closed after relogging (but able to relog immediately) for good measure. It resulted in the premature deaths of several Curators. Won't someone think of the poor drones. |

Based on speaking to people in the OOC & IGS channels, I'd guess it was an East Coast USA node. Since West & East coasters had the issue but none of the europe people on at the time did. I go through the USA also most of the time and had issues also, so it matches up with an East Coast node being the trouble spot. |

I've been getting the infamous "socket closed" error for last couple of weeks. My interweb is 100% fine and up-to-date (delicious fiberoptics), the fact that almost half of NE was kicked does indeed tell me that nothing is wrong on my end. A tracert to the EVE server, I can see that traffic goes through Level3 which is the most horrible service provider known to man (next to Comcast I guess).
Yikes. Plus it's been lagging more than usual for weeks as well.
I find it funny that CCP is upgrading servers when the hired backbone cant even keep up. Waste of cash indeed. |
