As a professional mining tax collecter, it seems macro-miners no longer use the "jet can" technique to mine, (a bunch of miner ships with one hauler supporting them).
With the advent of insta-docking, the new technique is simply macro-ing all of the mining barges to mine, then insta-dock when full, then insta-warp to their previous location.
Perhaps a change to warping to 0 to stations would be in order?

Surely it makes little difference as it would have been just as easy to setup an insta dock bm previously anyway if that was how they wanted to do it? Caldari Gunboat Pilot

it would seem from their previous technique, macroers are unable to warp to points in their bm's. Previously, their "mother ship" usually a indy, would be human controlled and use bms to collect ore. Now this indy has been removed, since the barges can warp directly to a station and back.

They used instadocks before. A year ago I saw one sweat shop operation in which haulers would do a fly-by past cans, pre-aligned to instadock. Even if a can swap had been performed, it was impossible for my frig to scramble in time as the hauler was already in warp at the moment it got flagged.

Actually they were, less than a couple of weeks ago in Domain. I petitioned instead of can-flagging, as they had T2 drones out with space for a second wave.

they arent using cans anymore because it costs less to run 3 extra barges than it doesnt to jet a can loose your ore and possibly your hauler too.

There are some in Tash-Murkon that are using cans, but they usually blow the cans up before I can get to it with my indy. :[
Although I swear I saw an indy using an instaBM to dock with rather than the instadock :O

that doesn't beat the macro-runners that run lvl4 hauling missions non-stop in the Loes system and surroundings.
good thing it's low sec, so I can do target practice with my hyperion while shaving off a bit of my security status. -------

With warp to 0 it's pretty trival to setup an undock target veld mine dock unload repeat macro.
There are still plenty still just using the simple drag into can with a human hauler as well, but their numbers are starting to dwindle. In ice mining this is especially true - a lot of the major ice belts rarely have any cans down anymore.
Now that warp to 0 has been live for awhile I doubt people would be willing to change it without kicking and screaming, and since the macros always operate in the exact same spot it's just as trivial to setup the old style 15km past where you want to be bms.

If they try that next time, align and do a fly-by with your hauler. As soon as they fire, warp.
Then warp back at 100km with a sniper BS and one-volley them.
Did i ask for anyone to copy this into their sig? No, ****heads, its my text, not yours.

with everybody, their mother and their dog f***ing off their operations, dont you think that it is logical that they start to counter it?...
you know... ADAPT!!!!! (oh the irony...) like everybody esle have to?
I seen ninja mining before revelation. but is just now I think that so many ppl are witch hunting that they have to ADAPT to remain profitable...
they cant adapt against 2 destroyers suciding them though...
unless they start using BS all together...
but yeah, stop branding macro this and macro that...
alot of them have people behind them.
edit: /rant on
and yeah this witch hunt gets riduculous, my mining alt got petitioned 2 times now, for being an macro/whatever, just cause I have autoreject on. (oh and a Chinese sounding lastname doesnt help either..)and happened to be in a retriever
(I alt tab out to do other things when mining, have you ever witness the boredom of mining? )
for you guys who go on this crusade.... make sure you label people right...
/rant off
honestly, I havnt met a macro in a long time... most of the time they WILL talk to you if you F*** them up enough.

How about leaving the warping system alone and enhance the macro detection system and start banning them.

Do you like high mineral prices? Do you want them to go higher? I guess if you're a miner the answer is yes, but for everyone else its no. Although really if low end mineral prices fall you can switch from empire mining to 0.0 mining or empire mission running.

Isn't the new technique safer? Seems to me that the only person that loses is the hauler, who appears to be out of business in this case. ---

The main reason they stopped using jetcans [about 4 months before revelations] Is because people kept taking them or baiting the cans.
The real reason you posted the OP is as a cloaked warp to 0 whine becaue you cant hack it anymore at gate camping noob.

I'm a mission runner and I like high mineral prices. But that's probably because I only use loot that drops from my own missions...

Most of the so called Macros aren't....
They are anonymous 'operations' for those who dont want their miner ops getting a wardec...put up a good buy order and it doesnt get filled!! so watch which freighters visit the stations
Running 2,3,4,5 accounts is not Macroing..it's running 2,3,4,5 accounts....perfectly possibe if you are just mining.....
You can even pvp on 1 or 2 accounts whilst running a mining op on a few more.....
That is not to say that stealing ore is not fun, it is
Some adapt, some even use enforcers, you can get a good fight with some of the groups Caldari: Don't have to worry about transversal, falloff/optimal, cap, tracking, how your damage type is being tanked, ship speed, the direction you are moving... etc. Easy Mode w00t!! |

CCP has made it perfectly clear that they prefer the money of 25k macro miners to the 200 people out there actively going after them.
They've had high yeild mid-grade ore in lvl4 mission deadspace for months, and that's what the big end macro miners are using. The ones you find in belts are the chaff and decoys.
Go to a popular system and find 85 trash names in local, but surprisingly the belts are both empty and stripped bare. Where are those 85 exploiters? In deadspace, protected by massive fleets of CONCORD police ships.
