Because in PVP most passive tanks get BBQ'd real fast. Pasive tanking on something the size of a BC will jack your signature waaaay up, to the point that any turret battleships isnt going to have any problem hitting you, and torps, and to a lesser extent ccruise missiles, are going to really start smacking you. Smart hardeners and cap use is a better choice most of the time. __________________________________ Vale Heavy Industries "We produce many fine products!(Out of yours if neccessary.)" |

You're totally wrong.
Hitpoint based passive tanks last far longer than active tanks under very heavy fire, and usually last longer than non-injected shield tanks (even without nos in the equation).
Personally, I'd go for double extender, triple hardener (or triple extender if you have a gang and need no speed/tackle).
Lows, I generally go for PDUs and BCUs, though one or two SPRs can do wonders for sustainability.

-Highs- 7x Heavy Missile launcher (any degree of named) 1x salvager...
-Mids- 3x Large Shield Extender II's 1x Invulnerability field 1x 20km Scram 1x Stasis web
-Lows- 3x Shield Power Relay 1x Power diagnostic
This setup is for Solo gate gankage in low sec, mostly for ganking haulers, frigates, and cruisers under the gate guns while they are approaching the gate, or leaving in the case of a slow ship.
If you wanna be mobile and not tied to a gate and wanna hit up the belts, you're better off droping a shield extender, throwing in an MWD, and switching out your Shield Power Relays for Power Diagnostics. The SPR's kill your cap, hence the power diags instead (so you can run your MWD).
it's pretty cookie cutter, but also damned effective.

Two questions - What default missles do you use? And wouldnt Heavy Assaults be better in this situation (since were talking about <20km) then Heavys?

Drake isn't fast nor agile enough to be an effective solo camper tbh. most combat ships that come through are going to give you serious problems.drake dps isn't that imppresive either tbh. I have tanked them for a good long while in a ferox. Ham's aren't really effective against cruisers, unless they are painted. A highhly skilled ferox can tank a Drake until it runs out of ammo.
