example, the difference between a quality 8 and a quality 18. I understand it affects your corp standing increase for each missions but..
is there any significant rewards increase? significant LP increase? higher chance of harder missions?
Does anyone know the answer to this -for sure- ? I know a lot of rumours float around and people guessing without any actual data on it, but in the CCP FAQ for missions it says there isnt much more benefit than standing increase, so (example) a level 4 quality -14 is pretty much the same as quality 20, just with a very very small extra reward amount (1% or something small).

Edited by: Big Al on 02/01/2007 13:08:31 Security of the system has a much larger effect than quality, although if it's 18 vs 8 in the same sec it's probably worth using the 18.
The only difference will be more cash for the mission, and more LP (haven't really noticed the standing hits, but that's probably bigger too). The difference is fairly significant though, there is around a 100% spread from bottom to top in LP rewards for the same mission in empire.
edit: The spread is from say, a Q-20 agent in 1.0 to a Q18 agent in .5, and it's probably bigger than 100%

Edited by: subvert on 02/01/2007 19:33:21 Yeah I guess I could see that
but a q8 in .7 vs a q15-20 in whatever sec, and then adding in effective quality from standing and skills make the q8 upwards towards effective-q20, it should be fairly the same right? im not sure how much the increase is with effective q past 20, like the diff between e-q 18 or whatever and e-q 40. is there diminishing returns or is the scale from 20 to 40 another 50% like 0-20 (half of -20 to +20)
also how much of the 100% from -20 to +20 is sec status, any idea? just trying to see if can all pool our info and find out once and for all if using a lower but more convenient agent is actually much of a hit to pay also considering some missions (the better ones) the bounty is more than the agent reward

Q18 lvl 4 agent in .5 = 8k lp Q-19 lvl 4 agent in .8 = 1k lp
Same mission, different type of agent, so skills have a factor too. I could probably try to find some with the same sec status and agent type, but that would probably be too much work.
When in doubt lowest sec you can get followed by highest quality you can get wins.

Ok, but here's where it gets tricky -- which is better?
1. 3/19 personnel Agent in .51 system w/ effective quality 46
OR
2. 3/17 personnel agent in .31 system w/ effective quality 44
Now that is a tough call. Looking forward to educated opinions.

right, but I think that has more to do with your skills

.51 as you never have to worry about some flashy red person showing up. The .3 will pay more (LP) though.
For a better comparison I'll compare a .7 Q16 agent to a .5 Q18 agent, exact same skills (both connections at lvl 4)
Max lp in .5 Q18 is right at 8k Max lp in .7 Q16 is 5.6k (I think that's right, been awhile since I lived there)
Effective quality is 32 vs 30, very little of the LP change comes from that, most of the difference is from the sec difference.
I'm sure there's a big fancy formula for it, but in the end just try one agent then try another one. The best one to run is probably where you lag/get ganked the least.
If you aren't able to run all of the level 4 missions it would be to your advantage to know where the other nearby agents are as you can no longer chain decline missions without a faction hit.

yeah, that's sec status impact but the question is how much does effective quality actually come into play
were looking for something like:
1 high quality agent, 1 low quality agent same sec systems same skills

I have a L4 -18 qual agent that I have run a bunch of missions for (7.x agent standing) and he maybe gives me 2k lp for a hard/farmed mission.
Then there is an L4 +18 qual agent that gave me 5.5k on the very first mission.
Both agents are in 0.6 systems. I have L4 connections, social, negotiation.
Conversely, I seem to recall an L4 +10 (or so) in 0.8 that would give about 3.3k for the hardest missions. I don't recall what my personal standing was to him but it was decent.
IMO, the quality factor makes WAY too much of a difference. The only reason I use these agents is because the area is dead (20-30 or so on a busy day) and rarely/never send to low sec - at least for combat missions. Most of the low sec courier missions are to relatively quiet marooned systems.

My high-quality Level 3 agents offer rewards that overlap with my low-quality 4s in the same system.
