Reading around about the citadels, I am really really excited about them. They seem really cool. Is anyone else excited about them? Judging from the comments I've read, I've seen a lot of people complaining but I don't really understand why. |

The toys in the sandbox are being replaced - eventually - by new toys. There will be quite a lot of overlap.
Many pilots have gotten used to playing with the old toys in certain ways.
And, classically, comfortable people are very resistant to change. They'll have time to review the new toys - and they'll get quietly excited later as they find new things to do with them - that they couldn't do with the old ones.
The sky is not falling - it's just slowly changing to a different colour. Me - I'm colour-'blind'...... |

Ok , I have a really basic and potentially stupid question here.
Citadels are replacing the old POS system, right?
What happens to the Outpost, are they being replaced as well by Citadels or is that a different shoe box?
Are Outpost still indestructible?
Haven't had anything to do with POS/Outposts for years, excuse my ignorance.

They're planned to eventually replace POS, it won't be a sudden change. I don't think outposts will change either, you'll just see them becoming less relevant over time as citadels start popping up everywhere. Interesting times ahead. |

This, but they have been implying they will eventually eliminate all the old structures.
And the big differences are they are not indestructible and can be placed in a lot more locations. Basically like a big ship that has a lot of different functionality and can't move. |

Citadels are replacing outposts and in some respects, pos's too while other structures are replacing the pos's and their related structures like moon mining platforms etc |

Thanks for the answers!
I remember outpost were only temporary indestructible as the investment was huge in the beginning, temporary turned into years now. I personally (as a non 0.0 resident) feel like null space is not as unexplored/dangerous anymore since almost every system has outposts now.
Then again nothing in the coming changes will affect me in any way so I leave the discussion of benefits/risks to people who actually use these toys :).

CCP just released the EVE Vegas 2015 presentations about Citadels, Capital Ships, and Ghost fitting on their YouTube channel a few hours ago.

Just ignore 95% of the endless crying for nothing.
I read about them. There's been quite a few dev blogs. Much better than wasting 1+ hour watching a video.
Been around since the beginning.

About Citadels:
Well not excited, but curious and optimistic.
This, since the Citadels do not come alone, but with more game changes, that might change things all over EvE.

You aren't alone. Just the simple fact of CCP telling us about citadel guns and windows was enough to sell me on them, but those things are just the tip of the iceberg.
