Rumours have already been flying round, but now that the battle reports have been declassified the time has come to fill the public in on a recent milestone victory for those of us who stand against the Empire.
2006.06.16. Karishal Muritor of the defiants contacts the UshraÆkhan council. Like so many of us, after years of loyal service to the Republic he and his men grew tired with its leaders apathy.
ôI will speak plainly brothers. I believe the Republic leadership has fallen asleep, and has taken the Republic into its slumber with them. I cannot in all conscience allow this to continueö
Knowing the fleet he now commanded, and that he would not have commandeered such a fleet for petty raids, the next words Muritor uttered were music to our ears. This was what we had been waiting for!
ôI will provide them with an example. I will remind them who they are. Where they came from. I will remind them of those we left behind. I will go to Amarr.ö
At this stage, he kept the full details of his plans a secret. But what little he had told us certainly got our attention and we began gathering resources. Not only for the initial attack, but for the fallout that would inevitably follow.

2006.11.22. The defiants confirm that it was them who had been carrying out the raids in the bleak lands. They also brought intel from within the Empire itself. Quite how he obtained such information we didnÆt know, but it was to prove invaluable.
It seemed although the chain of command within the empire was slipping. The Navy was becoming slow to respond to the Chamberlains office calls and the defiants were taking full advantage of this fact.
The defiants were sowing enough dissension and confusion with their attacks, diverting the eyes of the Empire to these defenses while searching for what they hid.
However Karishal informed us that while things were going well, the forces arrayed against them were mounting. A new regional Commander had been put in charge and had sought help from Paramilitaries loyal to the Empire.
This was where the UshraÆKhan came in. That evening we were instructed to destroy a number of Amarrian transport ships. We intercepted one ship being escorted by 1pg, and with the help of a defiant carrier decimated the smaller Loyalist gang. It was then that we learnt that reinforcements had been called in, we stayed in the area as requested, but did not engage. Our presence was enough to convince the chamberlain not to risk the remaining Transports and more to the point it bought our scouts enough time to carry out several scans.

2006.12.01 More Intel from Karishal. More good news. The Navy had ordered a halt to the Mercantile convoys for the meantime. The Navy commanders were refusing to obey the Chamberlains orders for redeployment in the area. Political infighting was rife; the Empire has been headless too long.
It was then that we were offered a Glimpse of KarishalÆs master plan, an idea of what these shadow games had been about.
ôWe have received some interesting intelligence however. Our sources are hinting that the Navy might start redeploying assests out of the Bleaks towards the homelands. Which presents us with an interesting situation. If we can locate some of their installations in space we can hit them while they are redeploying and weak.ö
Things were going well, the Empires confused state of mind was playing into our hands, however we still had to find a target of opportunity.
Once again it was up to the UshraÆkhan, and our new accomplices Fimbulwinter to provide enough of a distraction so that the defiants could find us a target.
Although the navy had ordered a halt on all Merchantile transports a few had been scheduled. This was an ideal opportunity.
We decided to send in multiple light raiding parties, consisting of 5-6 light ships each. We approached the area from multiple directions in the hope of causing as much confusion as possible, to our horror though, our scouts had sighted a large group of paramilitaries in heavy ships.
Evidently they planned to escort them in one run. They loyalists were smaller in number, but out gunned our nimble raiding ships. Our presence alone would have been enough of a distraction for our scouts to do their work however, thatÆs just not our style. The defiants had two carriers in the area, and the UshraÆkhan had Eddie Gordo standing by in his Nidhoggur.
On paper, this should have gone well. However what happened next was nothing short of a complete disaster. The Paramilitaries broke through our camp along with the transport ships and seemed to be making a run for it. We gave chase for a few jumps, and fell into their trap. Our fleet had become split, jump queues were suddenly enforced, and the Loyalists turned and fought. To make things worse the defiants cyno ship failed to fire, as did the UshraÆkhanÆs. Our fleet was torn apart as it arrived piece by piece.
Still, we took solice in the fact that our diversionary job was complete and that the scans had been carried out. Those of us still in ships returned home to prepare for the final battle.

Interesting read. Truth among lies, but interesting still. It's always good to see the "other side". --------------------- Signature removed due to incorrect size (400X120px and 24000 bytes).
