Anyways, my eve has now been down for 2 weeks, I go to log on & it comes up checking status! (on both the main server & test server) Although i can still hear the music & it comes up with the little info box... I don't get why this is happening... as it was working fine 1 day & then stopped the next... basiclly I've tried everything thats been suggested.. re-installing eve, checking the settings on my firewall (which i don't even use), delting/renaming my cache folder, gettin a new modem, phoning my ISP (they weren,'t much help) pinging the server (which my PC can see)... the only thing i haven't tried is reformatting my pc, but i'm hoping i won;t have to do that...
if anyone has got suggestions i would be very greatful!! Nad MY SIG BANNER GALLERY |

Can you explain a bit more of the problem?
Are you talking about when you select the server it says "Checking Status.." then it changes to "Ok" and then you login. Your not getting past the "Checking Status.." ?
Tried submitting a bug report?

I had the same thing for a while, I changed from userspace PPPOE to in-kernel PPPOE in OpenBSD. The DSL MTU is 1492 + padding, ethernet ie home lan MTU is 1500. The Eve firewall doesn't allow fragmented packets. I set this in my firewall rules
# scrub scrub in all scrub out on $ext_if no-df random-id max-mss 1452 scrub on !$ext_if no-df random-id max-mss 1452
And it fixed everything. Find a registry tweak for Windows to change the MSS to 1452 and the MTU to 1492 and you should be better off. Barrier Solo, CEO, INSM, ISS Join us! http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=topic&threadid=402528 |

Sorry but I dont understand... I'm on Windows XP professional, at my DORM. I am just now having this problem (jan 11th 2007) I was able to play this morning at my house, now i moved back into the dorm, and i get the "CHECKING STATUS" and it sits there and doesn't let me connect. can you explain in greater detail how to fix this? thanks.

Sounds like a DNS issue maybe.. Possibly an old record that is stuck in cache pointing your Eve client to the wrong IP address.
Try changing you DNS server settings to another server and then restarting your PC.

I tried to do this, but i got nothing. Refreshed my DNS< repaired my connection restart, disabled my local area network, enabled it after a restart, blah blah, did everything I could think of. Still nothing... I'm just not connectnig. BTW what is the IP address for the server, i want to try and see if i can even ping it.

Edited by: Gonryu on 16/01/2007 11:40:01 Don't know if this was merntioned already but, If your on Windows XP
Go to Start - Run Type in CMD and click open Type in the DOS box - ipconfig /flushdns
Close the window and try connecting, it should pick up the new DNS and route settings.
Tranquility Server is - 87.237.38.200

I'm starting to believe that this is from my ISP. I just moved back into the dorms at the university. I talked to the telecommunications office, they didn't know and said nothing had been changed from last semester, So I assumed nothing was wrong. What I didn't know was that they aren't in charge of the networks firewall, thus I had to call a different number, and will find out the result later on today after classes.
By any chance, if they did block ports, does anyone know WHICH PORT eve-online connects through? Because this would definetly speed up the process. Thanks for the feedback!

The port you require is 26000.

Thank you, I did talk to tech-support, and unfortuantely they're a bunch of ******* idiots (excuse my aggrivation). But half of my school here at the University of Miami is unable to connect to any mmo, not just eve but for example world of warcraft, star wars galaxies, vanguard, everquest etc due to this issue.
we have been blocked from all mmos and all those common ports such as 26000 have been closed.
We are all petitioning against this because a lot of people are losing out.
I hope I can connect in time to change a skill... This eve-withdraw is very bad.
