I find Planetary Interaction (PI) to be a little more trouble to set up and maintain than it needs to be and after watching the Structures video from EVE Vegas it gave me an idea. LetGÇÖs be honest, PI is not dynamic game play unto itself, itGÇÖs a means to and endGǪ passive income to facilitate what Eve is really about: Space ships blowing up other space ships, much like moon mining and reactions.
I really like how the new structure system side steps the old POS code problems AND unifies the game design in the same system/interface of ships. Could this same principle be applied to PI? This is neither urgent nor should it put off more important features. However, if and when PI gets an update, it should get a treatment that brings it closer to what Eve is becoming. PI is now a staple part of the game and a wonderful resource for those who take advantage of it on a multitude of levels
The way I envision it working is Command Centers would be manufactured by players and sold on the market. Command Centers would be installed on the planet as they are now. However, the other facilities would be modules that would be fitted to the Command Center like Ships and Citadels. These modules would also be player built and traded on the market.

I have not found how moon mining will work under the new structure system, but I can imagine the PI system could emulate whatever CCP has in mind for that. Again, keeping similar systems for multiple modes of gameplay. This will help to immerse pilots in the game world, it is better game design, and will get people back into space ships blowing up other space ships faster while they earn some passive ISK with less hassle.
Again, not that PI is broken, but a unified game design that is streamlined is advantageous for all imho. What are your thoughts and suggestions? |

Give more details on how you think the facilities "fitted" to the command center would work. Which facilities would go into which slots? Will nine "facility" slots and two "rig" slots be enough? |

If you're referring to the picture I linked, it was just a quick mock up. The fitting area was a snippet of the ship I happened to be in while writing the post. It would be similar to structure fitting, just different modules and however many slots are required. The system would need to be reworked to resemble how structures will handle moon mining and reactions. |

your mistake is thinking that PI is passive income. it is only if your fat and lazy, after that if you try to produce too much PI its becomes a job and is no longer passive
you have 3 options
1) PI 2-3 days before resetting your extractors (as passive as you can get) any longer and your making less then 2-3 days by more then you know
2) same as 1 but now you add 2-10+ toons and just sell P2s or add production Planets and make P3s, its not really passive as now you have allot to pick up costing you few hours a every other day.
3) same as 2 but now you either mine ice or buy low cost ICE products wich is major work or make P4s
there's barely any "passive" work to PI, you can mine in a venture and make more ISK compared to any "passive" income you think your making
PS I can make my 7 PI alts PI into 30+b a month into POS fuel. that's not profit. but that's like 4+ hours of ice mining (x3-4 toons) to keep up with the PI I produce. or I just by ICE products low on the markets and mine ore which makes **** tons more. allowing me to sell 30b a month in POS fuel and **** loads more on selling ore if I do mine. |

What advantage does this give to EVE other than making more modules to purchase? How does it change PI? What do these new modules do and how do they effect the results of your PI? |
