Firts: Yes i'm an alt so what, just dont read this if you cant guess why i'm posting with an alt.
And for those who still reading...
Hello, i'm a carebear, you know the true carebear who never left high sec and have the whole map in avoidance list but high sec systems. Yes i am one of those.
Last week i had a friendly (no ! it was not) chat with some low sec pirates, they insulted me (carebear no balls ect) So i said to myself well YOLO get yourself a pvp ship and grow a pair (like they said) Then i ended up enlisting in FW.
Here we go, i wannabe a badass screaming YARRR whenever i appear in local.
Finding myself in a tristan pvp fit heading to Cal/gal FW warzone...
Day 1:
Roaming since 1h30 mins smashing Dscan to find a good target.... All systems i came trough were too busy to expect a good fight. Only players from same corp / too many pirates in local / too many ships on Dscan TWT (Totally Wasted Time)
Day 2:
I had have to go deeper in my "grow a pair" plan Roamed for like 30 mins or so... Found a condor at novice plex...interessting... Checking Dscan...Nothing on scan, good, let's warp to this plex Caught that condor scram web and starting to blap the little ******... Condor on hull and i'm still on half armor YaY. Not even 20 sec after the fight started a dramiel shown up on Dscan at 1 AU And indeed got me.
Obviously a bait...
Day 3
I was sitting at a novice plex in an empty system waiting for targets to come... Wow a wartarget pop'd on local...a merlin...he might come to fight me... Smashing Dscan on 1 AU, YaY he's coming to fight ! I took a deep breath, overload all modules and prepare myself for the fight of my life. Caught him as soon as he landed and as soon as i did... Huge spike in local...8 WT Ok they obviously coming for me...
Once again I've eaten the bait...
Day 4
I was sitting at a novice plex for like 15 mins after a roamed for 30 mins to find a good fight... Neutral appeared in local...in a Neurus Smashing Dscan... Wow he's sitting on Planet 4, probably doing PI stuff... Let's start the chase... Finally caught him at poco @planet 9 WHAT THE HELL !!! A neurus is scrambling/webbing me??? WTF my drones are not even scratching his shield?? Then 2 more neutral pop'd in local and soon after landed right on me....
This bait was strong...
Day 5
Roaming through the warzone... Found a quite system...1 neutral in local in a npc corp, 1 WT in a rifter on novice plex After my parano+ťa told me to check the whole system for active ships. I found that neutral docked in the station. Ok let's got catch that WT on novice... Scram/web blap blap blap...that fight is tight ! that's a good fight. WTF an inquisitor landed on grid and is starting to repp that rifter... after few mins i finally got blown up, indeed.
Day 6
Headed back to high sec area, unlisted myself from FW, click'd on "make active" my Gila pve carebear fit.
Conclusion:
PvP'ers tend to insult/blame carebears but in fact the true carebears are those wannabe a "GoD DaMn TrUe LoW sEc TeRrOr" who are fighting others on when they can outnumber / use logi / links.
At least i dont need to blob NPC to win :) |

Honestly, in solo frigate pvp it's not that hard not to get blobbed. You're either unlucky, need to learn the locals, take less obvious bait, or need to find better systems to roam. Learn to move around lowsec semi-safely. Don't quit after a few losses and rages. It takes a lloooonnnnngggggg time to learn. Get used to it if you want to learn pvp.
Honestly, it's quite easy avoiding gangs unless you're unlucky. Sometimes I roam around solo in a battle cruiser hoping a small gang attacks me!
You really don't need to post on an alt. Nobody's going to hunt you because 'reasons'. Don't be afraid to shoot me a few questions, I don't pretend to be great at pvp but I consider myself competent. But get used to blobs, they'll always be there. Just learn to avoid them. |

What you want existed 2 days after the server went live, then the spaceships banded together to hunt lone spaceships. Eve Warfare evolved over more than a decade, so don't expect to solo pwn lowsec and conquer the universe in your frigate.
If you start doing something , odds are everybody doing the same thing has been doing it for a lot longer than you - so if you give up after failing a couple of times (even with the understanding why you failed) you might want to rethink your attitude.
Don't blame others for your failures.

Let me see if I've got this all down.
After allowing yourself to be goaded into playing in a way you don't enjoy, you spent a a few hours going full Leeroy Jenkins with entirely predictable results, promptly gave up, and then decided to salve your ego by claiming that all the folks who outplayed you are the real sissies, here.
That about sum it up?

Grats on having a go! I must say u sounded like u did better than expected, it's pretty sad that ppl would go to lengths to bait by offering what seems a fair fight, then when they are losing they call backup jus too they don't "lose" to some new pvp'er.
Your post reflects more on the sad life of fishermen than that of great captains of starships!

Congratulations on scratching through the pink layer on the surface of level one solo pvp. Now solo pvp is a weird thing, based as it is in ego and the fantasy of the individual social animal being somehow relevant or even viable. All the good solos i've ever known had terrible isk efficiency stats and a hindu outlook: every time you die you learn and laugh, you have to die to kill. The desire to go solo means the losses will sting, but the wins will be very sweet.
Goggles. Making me look good. Making you look good.

In all honesty you seem to have lost a few cheap ships learning some very valuable lessons about pvp ....I say fair trade as many don't learn and assume pimp = win and lose a lot more ISk
Would like to hear you giving it another try one day hopefully soon as its sooooo much fun when u do win but it is challenging and you will lose ships as you learn unless you wanna just learn on the practice server
Anyways gl

At least you had a go. Give it a day or so and try again. Go back to same area. You will start to recognise corps and pilots which will help you avoid blobs and traps. Also indhstrials and other apparently easy prey are always bait in lowsec. Well almost always. |

There is no such thing as solo PvP. Most of the people who claim that are lying. "PvP" in EvE consists of mostly gangs looking for an easy target. These gangs are only interested in ganking easy targets that they know they can win in order to keep their killboards green. When confronted with real PvP, these gangs run away like little girls. I have witnessed this on countless occasions *cough, gorgan empre, cough*
Good luck trying to find solo pvp but I think you would be better off joining roams where people are looking for a fight. Keep us updated how you go in your travels! |

OP
Get back out there and enjoy yourself.
It sounds like while you may have lost a couple ships you had fun doing it.
If I might suggest something a stint with EvE Uni, Agony Unleashed, or Pandemic Horde might give you a leg up.
And if it makes you feel any better I lost a 3/4 billion ISK Loki trying to be a smartass and solo kill an Astero.....his buddies showed up eventually |

Solo frigate PVP is pretty much what the OP describes but it's not necessarily a bad thing nor a good thing "made bad".
It's just "tactics" and everybody is using them.
I don't see what the problem is. Before even reading the OP I expected to see what was posted. Why are people still complaining about it?
And there never was a "Golden age" of solo frigate PVP. Don't let the past glory of the Rifter fool you. The Rifter was a "pirate frigate" and used as such, the better PVP incidents resulting from that happened by accident.
Hence to go about "looking for PVP" is a failed aspect from the start. The game is designed around self-advancement where PVP happens when you want it to, and when you don't want it to. It's always been one of the selling points of the game and much cherished by those who "get" Eve.

Solo PVP can be demoralising sometimes, dude. But stick with it. Eve is merciless, so when you do eventually win, it's so much sweeter. I sucked at solo PVP for a long time. Go to a killboard site like zkillboard.com and look at some of the top-killing fits. And spend some time on pyfa. |

Did you have fun?
I guess by reading your whiney post that answer is no.
I hope that there was some fun in it even if you lost, the hunt, the chase.. the D-Scan that pops up his rescue on the way.
These might of not been the outcomes you were looking for, but they were outcomes. Would of it have changed if you popped one or two of those targets as their support arrived? A few hit points this or that way and it's death or a kill.
After3-4 days of this, it doesn't seem you changed your tactics at all to get fights. Just D-Scan find target, check quick for no back up next to him and go "yolo" as you put it.
You have to change your tactics and approach if you expect a change in the game play. no?
The other option is to keep grinding at PVP and you'll start to notice more and more targets popping before support can get to them.. you'll learn tactics to drag them off from support, cross jump the list is endless in tactics.
Mark each of these Linking, Remote Repping 3 alt using pilots so you can identify those people next time.
If you think PVP is fitting a ship and looking for the first frig to fight your wrong. Just like a good miner, production specialist it takes time and experience to get to different levels. Being able to use different resources at the same time using other tactics to advance your chances of a win.
The crappiest part or tellingest(not a word) is that you didn't have fun. It didn't even sound like you enjoyed the hunt. Maybe PvP is not for you? |

Given that EVE PvP is not a simulation of honorable dueling with pistols at 10 paces in the glory days of the deep south but instead a realistic simulation of Ghetto street gang warfare complete with drive-by shootings (hot drops) you need to ask yourself how well a "solo street fighter" would do wandering around picking fights in some local gangs turf. |

EVE is hard, don't expect to win right away. Take every encounter no matter if you win or lose as a learning experience and keep trying. Soon you will become better and better at it.

I can attest that it is disappointing how many potential good fights turn out to be someone baiting for the blob; they just have to hold point and survive long enough for said blob to land.
1v1's can happen but you have to learn the local environment and residents to learn who's interested in good fights and who just wants ganks. As for the rest, join a blob and beat them at their own game. If possible, pick a blob with supers.
Basically there is alot of bullshit and no-honor shitbags but you can have fun once you learn to avoid them. (Except the random instalock gatecamp, that joy is never entirely lost) |

Solo PVP, especially without links, drugs or HG implants, can be very challenging. I have recently been roaming low sec a lot more than in the past and have had a few good fights and a few gank/gank attempts.
The key that I rarely see talked about is managing the engagement envelope.
You need to be very clear regardless of what ship you are using what your engagement envelope is and how to manage it well. Can you do well jumping in a dual rep Incursus and brawling it out. Sure, but you have almost 0 ability to manage the engagement. Same can be said for a kity Tristan. Great ship, but if your prey is adept at killing off your drones pretty soon you end up with 0 damage output.
Personally, scram range kiting is my favorite as you are typically a very short distance from getting out of scram/web range if company shows up. Same can be said from long range kiting, but typically your DPS is pretty low in those ships. However, long range kiters provide the ability to take on more than one opponent.
Regardless, it all comes back to that all important engagement envelope management. Giving yourself the ability to pull range at will and manage the fight or flight response is key to more successful (true - you by yourself) solo (IMHO).
Will you drop in to a cloaky trap - yes.
Will you take bait that you cant manage - yes.
Will you tackle something that is linked and snaked to the point that you wont be able to get away - yes.
However, learning how to manage most engagements will mean that you are losing less and maybe even winning sometimes. |
