afaik the only way to trade rigges ships would be the direct trade in a station, right? last time i checked contracts wouldnt work. well... maybe freeform would work, but as i understand it, people are arent touching freeform contracts with a 3 foot pole, due to all the scamming...
well..even in the direct trade window the potential buyer has no way to check what rigs the ship has installed. (or even if it has any at all)
does anybody know a way to trade rigged ships securely? or if there ever will be one?
any help appreciated.

Edited by: Vandar Broheem on 03/01/2007 18:59:00 Setting up a contract with the packaged ship and the rigs NOT installed seems like the most obvious option to me.
If whoever buys the ship does not have the skill to install the rigs to the ship after unpacking it then they couldn't have used them anyway.
Seems a minor annoyance on the buyers end to have to click a couple buttons to install them after purchase.
In fact the only reason I can think of to sell an assembled ship with the rigs already installed (with the current system) is to try and scam somebody since there is no way for them to verify the rigs installed till after the purchase.

Edited by: Taipan Gedscho on 03/01/2007 19:03:17 here's another reason than scamming for you: what if you got a ship with rigs already installed that you actually dont need that much, and therefore could sell it, and you need isk fast? for exotic dancers and spirits for instance? huh?

Do you need the skills to use a rigged ship? or just install?

When I was reading the dev logs, it appeared that rigs would allow people to produce custom ships, with meaningful modifications.

If theyre in a trade window, i think you can click 'show info' and see the mods (and rigs) installed.

You can place a fitted, assembled ship including rigs into an item exchange or auction contract. If you put a fitted ship into a contract, it lists each module fitted on the ship as a separate item in the contract. I have not tried this with a rig fitted ship but i assume that rigs would be listed in the same way as modules.
If not then they should be.

The exact same skills are required to fit and use the rigs.

Dev blogs and reality are not always congruent.

if you try you get this message:
Quote: You cannot unfit an upgrade. Once installed the ship can only be rid of them by being reprocessed or repackaged.

Hmm, you get that message when you create a contract? Sound odd if that's the case.

Wrong wrong wrong wrong. Wrong wrong wrong wrong. You're wrong. You're wrong. You're wrong (Scrubs quote. sorry :P )
The rigging skills are only needed for fitting the rigs. the pilot doesn't have to have them at all.

One of the reasons this is useful is my case:
I currently have a Raven which I have fitted with rigs (maybe not optimal but not bad at all) and I will be buying a CNR soon, I would like to get more than 113 for my raven, hence it is important to be able to sell rigged ships.
