I'm not sure if this has been solved, but on my alt character, I noticed that the overview columns.. icon, distance, name, speed (optional) if you click on any of those it automatically starts sorting in distance and the icons move around and i've been trying for a while to reset that. the overview settings to default and so forth do not seem to work. I need the items to stop sorting and changing position by distance, it's driving me insane. I didn't mean to click on a column to sort.
help please...

unless i understand something completely wrong, sort by something else, i.e. icon...

thing is.. no matter what I select, it will still sort by distance. If you select any of the column names you will have it highlighted and then it starts to sort by distance.
before i accidentally selected the columns, i'd warp into a mission and then everything would be set by the groups they are in... now it's all one big list of who's closer and farthest. bleh, not even CCP is responding to my petition about it.

slight necro on this, but sorting issues still abound:
As I understand it, you can sort by the column headers on the overview in either ascending or descending order. For columns with alpha-numeric data, that's simple and easily recognizable. With distance, it's either closer items at the top with more distance items populating down..or vice versa.
Sorting by Icon, however, makes no sense. What is the ascending/descending relationship between the various icons? I usually sort by Icon so that the stations and jumpgates appear at the bottom of the list. The icons for ship sorting, however, apparently follows no convention. Within the list of ships, both PC and NPC, there appears to be no rhyme nor reason. A BS icon for a player is as likely to appear at the top of the list as a pirate NPC frigate.
There was a thread on this board about sorting the backgrounds and colortags so that ships at war with you appear at the top and ships of your corp or alliance appear at the bottom. Even with the ordering of war targets at the top and allies with high standing at the bottom, there appears to be errors in icon sorting.
Insomuch as this applies to the topic, I've noticed that the "players with neutral standing" applies equally to mission NPCs in that turning off that option removes both neutral player ships as well as mission NPCs. Turning off "players with high standing" removes stargates and stations from the overview.
