Just noticed this when someone quoted a post i made, that this is a censored word (don't worry, it's a common non-derogatry word). Now, I know there's the slang term for it, and i know the *other* way to say the slang, starting with G is also censored here, which I perfectly understand since it's used as an insult so often in the online community.
But censoring Q----? Not ragging out the way forums are moderated here, since so many others do it, but thats like censoring sausage because it's slang for the old boy.
Just kinda curious if anyone else has run into similar over-the-top PC-ness. One board i used censored religious names because it was blasphemous. Certainly ruled out ever talking about them

thing is, eve has a varied player base, and these forums are open to read too, there will always be some over conservative types who will complain at this slightest word. ccp are just covering themselves.
but yes, it is PC gone mad.

Damn used to be censored, meaning you couldn't talk about the ship, the "Damnation" without getting all ****'d out. Thankfully the fixed that.
I still can't say "*****ing" either. Go figure.

yeah its insane and i've been *****ing about it for ages to them, and they dont like it. mail [email protected] or [email protected] if you wanna try and get their attention, best way to do it. I've asked them to add the option in the forum settings to allow users to turn their filter on or off, but i doubt they'll do it...

Take it from someone in the mmog biz.
Chat/post filters are never perfect!
You can never please everyone all off the time.
Especially with many different languages being spoken. Different spellings and the diversity of the English language.
Besides you block a word and someone out there will find away round the filter using other spellings or substituting some characters with numbers/symbols.
TBH if that really bugs you that much you should "Go Get A LIFE!" there are much more important things to worry about like can I play EVE for another 3hours and still function at work after only 4hrs sleep!

The "Q" word, for the most part, only has the one meaning in the US.
I go to a forum that allows you to curse and link to anything so long as you put a "+18" next to the link, but they still filter that word.

CCP are racist? That's the only reason I can see. S@ddam is a very common middle-eastern name, kinda the equivalent of John over here or something I guess. I see it around a lot anyway.
