I've been tinkering with my timing when the jump-in cloak ends upon moving... trying to see how quickly I could switch on my cloaker after nudging to one side for a second.
How quickly does my icon disappear from tactical if I recloak instantly, as I mentioned? Is it a viable way to slip to alignment to escape a camp?

Any competent camp will be using the tactical overlay, which leaves a nice little dot where you cloaked, no matter how quickly you switch cloaks. So no, there's not a viable way past cloaking and hoping you're fast enough to get out of the way. ---- AUS Corp Lead Megalomanic |

Unless of course it's a covert ops and you can move quickly or warp cloaked.
But jump in--> cloak--> align--> warp, can work in a hauler...maaaybe.
Depends on how competent the gatecampers you plan to go are.

If they don't have an inty, or do have one that isn't paying attention, it is possible you can Cloak, Align, then warp; because they still have to travel to you to decloak.
And if its an imperial order camp you don't have to worry about it being a 'competent' camp.

If you cloak in a Raven, we will eat you alive. Been there, done that numerous times. If you cloak in a normal T2 frig, we will still eat you alive. Been there, got the cloak \o/ If you cloak in a covert ops, we may let you go since you're using The Correct Ship with The Correct Cloak.
No matter how fast you can do it, you will be hunted and shot assuming the gate campers are competent people.

There is a trick to cloaking at gate camps, and not being found.
It involves MWD.
Basically uncloak by pointing in space near your target, hit MWD, and immediately afterwards hit cloak. You'll accelerate to crazy speeds with MWD, and remain at these speeds cloaked until the MWD gives out (6-10 sec... longer with implants...)
Makes it imposibile for anyone to find ya... works well for bombers, cov ops and recons caught in large bubbles... didn't try it for different ships.
My guess is frigs with improved cloaks will work with this as well, but prototype cloak cut too much on speed to be viable.

I can verify this statement. This never fails, especially on stealth bombers! Just make sure you have improved cloaks. Proto cloaks are absolutely awful...never buy one.
