Hello community,
I realise this has been done to death, however, expertise only comes with actually successfully launching and maintaining a POS. I don't have the necessary expertise so I appeal to the community for your input.
I've been thinking about POS setups, unfortunately the more common materials found on alot of moons are not profitable to be harvested alone. This is what I was thinking.
Brief explanation if it isn't clear enough :)
a) Two harvesters mining. Going straight to Medium reactor Array for Simple reaction. b) Since the reaction produces 200 units of the simple reaction, I want to pump 100 units to a silo and 100 units to a Large Reactor Array. c) Input silo contains another simple reaction, both reactions are placed into the Reactor Array to make an complex reaction. d) Output silo
Firstly, can this be done? Secondly, if so, what defences would you recommend?
Thank you for your time. |

I believe you are on the right track. But I have placed the "silo for 1/2 of reaction" between the two reactors, acting like a large coupling array. I do not know if the medium reactor output will split properly the way you have shown. CPU is always tight, so you probably need a Caldari Control Tower. It is especially nice if you or a friend can mine/react the other simple reaction and half of the complex reaction in a similar POS nearby.
For defenses, I am no expert. You will have extra power grid but not CPU, so lasers are more feasible than missiles. The general consensus seems to be you are toast if there is a serious attack anyway, unless you have fleet backup.

I did the same thing - put the silo between the medium reactor array and the other reactor array. Then when you start them up run the first reactor a couple of hours to build up supply in the silo before turning on the second reactor. This is the same setup I had on my POSs last year when I was moon mining.
