Just started like 10 days ago, currently flying around in a Cyclone and doing missions. But my aim is doing some pvp, been reading on the forums about this and trying to decide what ship I should aim for as my first pvp ship. Im not much interested in doin pvp until I stand a reasonable chance at success.
Should I go for assault ships, heavy assualt ships or maybe interceptors ?
I want to start pvping as soon as possible skill wise so Im not interested in going up a ladder in T2 ships if I can avoid it.
Any advice would be welcome Thanx --Marwel

If you just started 10 days ago then the rifter will be a suberb ship for you. Dont be fooled with the price tag, even tho its not expensive it can inflict some heavy dmg. You will most likely have enough isk to loose a couple while you¦re training also.

in my first ten days, i didnt even consider getting into something as big as a cyclone, i did lvl 1's in a breacher until i could do lvl 2's in a rifter and didnt get out of a frig for 2 months...lol....then i got my first cruiser, and after 5 months playing i still dont feel like i can pilot a bc to its fullest, my point is, you are gonna lose ALOT and that means cheaper is better best sig ever:)

I would say join Goon they love to PVP and spend alot of time in frigs so i belive they would help you leanr how to pvp alot more than just doing as told on the fourms.
I agree with the comment on the rifter it is a dam mean little bugger and since its so cheap you can afford to lose them left and right. !

best thing you can do is get in a rifter, and try joining a pvp corp that wont mind having you in their ranks.
as for a setup, 150mm autocannons, rocket launcher mwd, 7.5km scrambler, webifier 2x cap power relays, and small armor repair use emp small as ammo
train up the skills you need to fit this, but 10 days in getting these skills trained up could still take you a while i bet. However do not neglect traininng up the learning skills tbh ;x

I've only been active on EVE for a little over two weeks now, I've using this setup on my rifter, any suggestions?
150mm Light AutoCannon II 250mm Light Artillery Cannon II 250mm Light Artillery Cannon II Standard Missile Launcher II
Shield Recharger II Small Shield Booster II Small Shield Extender II
Co-Processor II Co-Processor II 50mm Rienforced Steel Plates II
Rig: Semiconductor Memory Cell II Powergrid Subroutine Maximizer II Capacitor Control Circuit II
Can I take this PvP? I haven't tried much, just been solo missions a lot. |

Thanx for the awnsers
Atm Im using the cyclone to be able to do missions that I wouldn't otherwise be able to with my low skillpoints. Im compensating skill with size :)
Ill take a look at the rifter and maybe Ill start to pvp abit earlier then I had thought, and learn the trade with a cheap ship
But what I wanted to know is what ship I should aim for to be my "pvp" ship for more then learning. In other words I want to skip as many piloting skills that I don't "have" to learn. In other games I always went for speed instead of pure dmg soaking, not sure if that is a valid option to use in this game in pvp.
Right now Im training learning skills and searching around for the ship I will find fun.
In short, what ship I should use when I have learned to pvp, what ship should I drool over?
Thanks --Marwel

Start with a rifter. Cheap, fun and will teach you lots about pvp. Then move to the Stabber if you like speed tanking, or rupture if you like armor tanking.

That's an awful lot of T2 gear to be able to use, 2 weeks in.
Not sure how effective having mixed gun types would be. Here's my typical setup.
Hi: 3 x 150mm AutoCannon I , 1 x Rocket Launcher Mid: 1 x MicroWarpDrive, 1 x Webber, 1 x Scrambler (7.5km one) Lo: 1 x Small Armour Repper, 1 x 100mm Plate, 1 x Damage Control I
No idea on rigs.
Sometimes the plate & repper is a cheap named one, but I'm not looking at spending a fortune on a disposable tackler. _______

As others have said, fit out a rifter, see if you can get into Eve Uni or other "newbie teacher" corp that pvps and gain the addiction so many of us have

Looking down the line, if you like speed, Interceptors are for you! There's nothing faster in the game and their speed is their defense. I can fly all kinds of ships including recons and HACs but I always come back to the interceptors for pure fun.
I, like everyone else, recommend flying a rifter for practice. They are awesome ships and you can fly them very similarly to intys if you want.

Rifter's a great ship to learn pvp in as everyone else said. When you move to bigger stuff, the best pvp ship will vary based on what you're doing. If you stick with minmatar ships, stabber and rupture can be pretty successful. A lot of people love the Gallente Thorax for pvp, it gets bonuses to MWD use and is great for getting in fast and hitting hard. Everything you use in pvp will probably get blown up, so I wouldn't mess with T2 (for pvp...they're great for missions) just yet. No matter how tough you are, when the enemy gang turns all their guns on you at the same time, your ship will pop. That means avoid using an uninsurable 150 mil HAC unless you can afford to replace it.
Assault frigs and interceptors are probably a good goal to work for, as the skills needed will help you fly any other ships as well. Your cyclone will eventually make a decent pvp ship.

First off, make sure your grid/cpu is right. Quickfit's newest version has a bug that makes it look like there's more grid than there really is.
Second, there's no way you have all the skills to use that T2 stuff if you're actually new, and even if you just bought that character, it's a total waste using all that when you're first PvPing in a ship. Especially a tech 1 frigate.
Third, use all long range or all short range weapons. i.e., Autocannons / Rockets or Artillery / Missiles.
Fourth, for the most part, just use shield tanking or armor tanking, not both. Usually for a PvP Rifter that'll be armor tanking if anything because of...
Fifth, unless you're in a Frigate gang, and even if you are, you'll probably be wanting a warp scrambler in one of those midslots.
A really standard setup that works solo or in gang that isn't hard to fit is:
AC150x3, Rocket Launcher Afterburner / Microwarp drive, Webber, Scrambler 200mm plate, small armor repairer, nanofiber/inertial stab/capacitor power relay.
All Tech 1 or cheap named, though if you bought a skilled character and have isk to burn, T2 guns and armor repair are handy and cheap.
Oh and sixth: Don't put rigs on your Rifter. * * * In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.

You know people start with 800k sp now right?
And most of the tech 2 items he has there require a single lvl 4 skill to use them so its not a completely unrealistic setup.
To the op, The suggestions here are good, use a rifter and see what you like. Personally i prefer the Rupture, autocannons and nos in the highs, Scrambler, MWD, Webifier in mids, Plate and damage mods in lows.
If you prefer speed tanking though then go for the stabber and then on to inty's. Stilletto is a great tackler. However if you don't really enjoy tackling i'd probably go assault ships then, seeing the jag and the wolf can put out more damage then the stilletto/claw.

/me rolls over laughing madly: aaaaaaahahahahahahahahahahaha
..........-still laughing-..........
ok, i'm better now. Seriously mate, e-bay is baaaad.
If you're not bullsh1ting us and u actually use that setup, here's 2 suggestions: a. fit a full faction vindi of doom or something (seems you have the (rl) money anyway ) and lose it repeatedly b. fit a named T1 rifter, lose it repeatedly, BUT learn the ropes, and THEN use the iskies you bought to properly fit something bigger.
@the guy that said something baout noobs starting with 800k or so SP: He still wouldn't be able to use all that stuff. But more importanly do you know how much they cost? You rly think a 2 week player could afford them? Heck, he wouldn't even know they exist.
In any case only a stypidly rich older player could/should use all that stuff on a rifter and even then, only to have fun....
/me takes anoter look at above setup /me starts laughing again... aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahahahahahahahahahahahaha

The rifter as stated is a good PVP tackler, but using its speed right will take down bigger ships.
Thrasher is a good shuttle/frigate instapopper when artillery fitted, also good with autocannons.
Stabbers are excellent in PVP but I think to use them properly you need experience.
Cyclones are good ingangs as tankers, but also drop the shield tank for armour tank, you can use mediums for some nasty EW.

If you can fit a rocket launcher in the spare highslot, do so. This setup is known as "win".
