I am about 3 steps away from being able to fly a Damnation but then I read that people seem to think that the Absolution is better. Why is this? I was thinking that the combo of missiles and laser would be better.
At any rate, I think DPS and resistances are the main focus here. Could you post your setup and approximate dps/resistances please? Sorry to ask so much but I am an EXTREME part-time player (not by choice mind you) so isk is a HUGE consideration for me.
On that note, isk is important to me as its very limited, so could you please make sure (I know I'm asking a lot) to list only T2 stuff as I'm pretty sure corpum stuff is WAY outta my league :-)
Thanks a lot people!

Damnation is a better tank, but having no real damage bonus, and a split weapon system, it's DPS is...poor, at best. The Absolution has a slightly worse tank, but does at least twice as much DPS (as get damage boni with the ship, AND you can fit damage mods that will work with ALL but one of the high slots, not just half of them).
T2 pulses & an arby heavy launcher 10 mn AB2, best webber you can afford, cap recharger II
T2 MAR, Thermic hardener II, 2x EANM II, 1x IFF Array, 2x heatsink IIs
You'll need max cap skills for this to be sustainable, though, I believe.
Sad, but true. |

Absolution will work much better for lvl4 missions and PVE. It has great firepower and it's tank its outstanding. The Damnation has slightly higer resistance but is very low on firepower, not enough to solo every lvl4 mission.
my setup 6 heavy pulse II, heavy missile launcher 10mn ab, web, cap recharger II 2 MAR II, thermal hardner II, 2 EANM II, damage controle unit, heat sink II 2 cap recharge rigs 5 light drone II
I have command ships lvl5, the ROF on the guns start chewing up the cap a bit to much if I more dmg mods on it. and I also like to have the second armor rep just for added safety, it has saved me in the past.
there are some good heavy beam laser setups for more range in the ship setup sticky but I like get in close with the targets.

The best defense is a good offense with balanced defense. Absolution fits into that statment perfectly. For lvl 4 missions, you don't want to over tank your ship. All you need is to be able to tank good enough for initial phase of the combat. Also, when it comes to missions, you want range on your side. The further away from npc groups, the less you have to tank. Thus you want to use T2 heavy beams on absolution instead of pulse. Absolution is slow and have no range bonus. You waste a lot of time by covering the fire range. So go for Absolution with 6 t2 heavy beams and a medium nosf. There is no mission you cannot handle in it. Even against Angel ships it still can cut through very quickly.

Ignore MalaMo the Absolution is great tanker and DPS is fine for Lvl 4's And if you ever get into PvP then you will be a real asset in a command ship. My setup is nearly the same as Skylar's I use a AB, Cap booster and a webber in the mid slots. The lows I don't need the CPR as my skills are good so I have four free slots for hardeners. You just have to remember to set up resistances for each mission.
Galban -------------------------------------------- [2005.02.08 13:58:16] Your Mega Beam Laser II perfectly strikes Sansha's Beast, wrecking for 709.6 damage.

You run a cap booster, and thus should not have a need for the CPR - But on the other hand you're reliant on the amount of carried booster charges. I'm a lazy git and usually don't pay much attention when doing missions (forum whoring ) so I like my setups to run forever even with all modules on - Which the one I've posted is (at least with 5 in the cap skills)
