I have a similar problem since I upgraded my soundcard. Turning in-game sound off seems to be an effective (though irritating) work around, don't know how to fix it properly though.

I have the same issues but mine started after i installed the optional patch, due to the fact that it was crashing around the billboards at the jump points. Yea great job!! the thing crashed during a lvl 2 battle and wasted my raven....no reinbursement for lags or freezing....that is total bull

Same sort of thing happening to me making game unplayable at moment with Alliance War dec..
Anytime I enter combat near a gate my pc crashes and shuts down then auto restarts. Usually if i log back in im ok if i have auto warped out but if sstill in combat i crash immediately again pc shuts down then auto restarts..
I had also applied the patch that was supposed to sort crash probs at gates.. no use to me
Losing stuff left right and centre cant play now til there is a fix or i'll go broke.

speaking for my bro here. he just bought a new comp and game crashes with sound (when card is disabled, everything is fine) weird thing is that it started not long ago- first week, everything was fine. now most of the time he enters battle, comp reboots. not by 100% chance- seemes like some missions it gets through.
makes me wonder if there's a problem with certain sound file that it tries to play and doesn't like?
problem is only with eve, other software works fine

Edited by: zeit weilig on 07/01/2007 15:23:52 Same thing here, get into a battle with 5 or more ships and the game disconnects to desktop, then its a matter of logging back in, warping to destination, spending about 10 seconds firing all ammo, then disconnect again.
rinse, repeat until theres 4 or less left, and the disconnect stops.
redownloaded client, downloaded the "corrupt JPG" patch, so far no good.
if its to do with sound, then this sounds similar to the memory leak bug about a year ago.

In the 'Smuggler Interception' mission when the NPCs begin to target me, my pc crashes to BSOD, every single time. This has also happened when docking at Jita M4 Station but I was unable to replicate.

Try this:
Close the EVE application. Click Start, and then click Run. In the Open box, type dxdiag, and then click OK. Go to the "Sound" tab. Set the Sound Hardware Acceleration Level to None (move the slider all the way to the left. Restart the EVE application.
I hope it helps. Regards.

there are several threads on this, most of the people who have the problem have either a 975x chipset and or a realtek onboard audio sometimes soundblaster card have the issue (asus p5w dh delexe etc).
There is however no fix..... crap i know but there are a few workarounds below.
1. disable game sound 2. disable sound hardware acceleration 3. buy a new soundcard 4. bug ccp and or realtek to sort the problem
Apparnatly no1 had this problem before the revelations patch so it could either be CCP's problem for doing something wrong or realteks for not learning how to wright real drivers yet
here is a link to another thread that deals with it. http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=topic&threadID=434106
