I've been playing eve for about a month and a half (read newbie). In that time I've managed to get myself into a battlecruiser and start running level 3 missions.
Taking a break from level 3s so that my skills can catch up to the things that I'm doing, I thought I'd go back and do a level 2.
I've never had to warp out of a mission as many times as I did the lvl 2 blockade. Too many too close for artis, so I went and completely refit the ship (cyclone) with ACs. I could still barely hit anything.
I finally got through it, but it took me 2 hours and multiple warp outs at zero capacitor.
So, what's the trick? Do I load up on smartbombs next time? Is it a skills thing (does it get a lot easier with 3 million skillpoints)?
Is there a right way to do this?
Thanks,

There are certain ships in each wave that trigger the next wave.
If there is a ship in a wave that doesn't share a name with any others, e.g: 4 x Corelatis Sentry Captain and 1 x Corelum Chief Defender, DO NOT SHOOT the lone one as it will trigger the next wave. This way you can take each wave in turn and it's a very easy and profitable mission.
Now for the love of Christ can everyone stop asking about this mission. ------ ------

Might Aswell Train Another Race
people don't say this because they are joking, they say it because its true.
sometimes there is no odd named ship, especially on the first wave from my experience. --------------------------------------------------- A word to the wise ain't necessary, its the stupid ones that need the advice |

To Marquis: Thanks. That's what I needed to know. And no. People will never stop asking about this mission.
To Trollin: Minmatar for good or bad, forever.

Edited by: Dahak2150 on 07/01/2007 03:02:34 Unfortunately, no, that is not a reliable rule. One time I ran L4 and never had a unique ship name.
I've also had one mission where the unique ship was never the trigger.
So be prepared for another wave at any time. Do what you can to put a lot of distance between yourself and the spawn points so you can have some breathing room between waves.
If you're on IE, pretend this is transparent while you get a better browser. |

The only "unique" pattern I've really noticed is that the trigger seems to be the unique ship with the biggest bounty in the big pack that spawns (you seem to get one large group and one or more smaller ones on any given wave).
That ship may not be unique for the wave as a whole, but that's the method I've been using up to this point and only once have I gotten a wave before I wanted it.

no its not always true did a level 3 blockade last night, 3 waves not one ship had a different name, in any of the waves. when i finally killed the pirate raider ....he was one of 4 lesser bc's all with the same bounty, which was way less than some of the HACs beating on my ass. Trust me it was the most hellish blockade i ran last night, multiple waves, even shooting the lesser bounty guys triggered the next wave. Finally had to quit and get my temptest, which i dont have a lot of skills in but flew him at 100 miles out and sensor boost snipe the crap out of 30 ships and keep warping out, and it was overkill getting hit with 20 heavy missles from outside 60 miles.....completely insane.
So yeah its not always one with the highest bounty or a named single ship......it can be just one of the masses. Personally I suspect that spawn was a bugged one.

You think the lvl 2s are nuts? Try the lvl 4s! Eight high-end BS rats with support in each wave. It took me several hours in a nicely kitted Maelstrom and I couldn't even loot/salvage all the wrecks because they despawned.

One word: Myrmidon
But as another said in this thread, train other faction ships. I haven't regret that I trained gallente BC(Being caldari as starting race). And lvl 2s are so easy, well I don't have access to lvl 3's where I am living so have to do lvl 2s
Even the Drake is the "I win" thingy on lvl 3s. Well The Blockade lvl 3 can get bit hairy, those nasty cruisers with HAC resistsance
On the lvl 2 The Blockade, take yourself time to look at the rats names. Kill those that are more than one of. You should be ok then. --- Words without action is death to the nature of logic. |
