I havent really been able to get a good idea of the right way to use them so I figured i would post my situation/question
I'm planning on moving out into 0.0 and i currently have a full set of +4 implants. Is it possible for me to make a jump clone and move into 0.0 and still have my implants in my head, without the worry of losing them if i am podded?
and i've also heard its possible to lose all the implants in your head using jump clones incorrectly, how do i avoid that?

Edited by: Ennis Metara on 07/01/2007 02:08:32 Edited by: Ennis Metara on 07/01/2007 02:07:37 Ok, here's how it works. When you make a jump clone, that clone has no implants. If you have a set of +4's that you want to preserve prior to doing something risky, you can jump to your jump clone. The implants stay with your old body and have no effect as long as you are in the new body. The old body now behaves like a jump clone and remains whereever it was prior to the jump, even if you do not have the necessary standings at that station to have a jump clone.
If you want to regain the use of your implants, you must jump back to your old body, which will again make you vulnerable to losing them to podding.
If you are podded while in your jump clone, you will reanimate at the medical facility where your normal (non-jump) clone is. You still have the option of jumping to your original body and will have the use of that body's implants.
If you are planning to relocate to 0.0 for a long period, then you're going to have to risk those implants. The only way to safe-guard them is to not be using them.
There are a couple of other things you can do with jump clones, too. Might as well cover all the bases.
Their most obvious use is to cover long distances instantaneously. Obviously, you leave your ship behind, but if you have a base of operations in more than one region, a jump clone can be a convenient way to switch between them. Just remember that you can only jump once every 24 hours.
Another possible use is to set up clones with a variety of different implant configurations for different uses. You're likely to need different implants for fleet warfare than you are for mining operations. Since some of the relevant implants compete for slots, using jump clones can give you more flexibility. You'd probably have to be a billionaire to really need to do that, though.
Some capital ships can have clone vats. If there is a fleet combat operation going on and your ship gets destroyed, you can jump instantly to the mothership, board a new ship, and get back into the action quickly. Also, if you happen to be ratting 30 jumps away and a battle breaks out, you can get into the thick of it immediately.
Hope that helps!

To cover the second part of the question, don't jump to a jump clone in the same station you're in.
As you leave your body first, for an instant there's 2 jump clones in the same station at the same time. The game doesn't like that, so destroys one at random (although it's usually the one with the expensive implants).
Medical clones are entirely separate from jump clones, so you can have a medical clone and jump clone in the same station.

I had this problem and was looking for answer. If you tries to jump to clone at same station, system warns you about destroying old body. I didnt know it's becouse i'm at same station :). thx you all

Got a question, say I jump into a jump clone at a station and then a day later jump back into my orignal body, do I use up that jump clone or can I jump back into it a day later, or once I jump into the jump clone have to make a new jump clone at the station I just arrived at ?
Hope this makes sence

There is a warning, but it's very very deceptive and doesn't read well at all. Basically, just go to another station in the system and do it.

Next time, try starting a new thread rather than necro-ing an old one.
Jump clones stay where you left them, unless you destroy them, either intentionally or unintentionally. They aren't used up and you can jump into another one once every 24 hours.
