Edited by: Chaskelanger on 07/01/2007 03:08:08 I have googled and searched the official forums for hours now....
First, here's the problem. Every time I try to install Eve on my home computer I get an error at the same spot during installation telling me the installer is corrupt/NSIS error.
This is on a freshly installed OS. Win XP Professional, SP2, all updates. I have ran mem tests, tested the HD, did surface scans, tried a different HD, ensured my drivers are up to date and even tried rolling back to older drivers (and yes im 100% sure that I removed previous drivers completely before rolling back).
No firewall. No Anti-virus or with AV, same error at same spot. No Router.
Have tried downloading the client with IE, FireFox, multiple download managers/accelerators, and hard disks all with the same result.
I have also tried downloading the eve client from different sources other than the official eve site and still yet, same error.
I am at a loss, and even tho I was able to find other posts with people experiencing the same problem, either they never found a solution or they didnt share it with the rest of us.
Your help is greatly appreciated!
Edit: Almost forgot Sys specs if it would help:
WinXP Professinal SP2 fully updated. AMD Dual Core 4200+ (each core operates at 2200) Geforce 6800GSx2 (SLI) 4 Gig Ram WD Raptor 10k RPM Sata HD x 4 No overclocking of any sort.

Yeh from my google searches I found that suggested as well and have checked to make sure. There's roughly 60 Gig free on the windows drive, and I cleaned temp files via options and manually checked just to be sure.
I re-installed the OS this morning and updated to end up with the same problem.
I have found that not only can i not use any programs that use NSIS but CAB files are ending up with errors/corrupt as well, not all cab files but mostly those in large installations. But what's strange is windows uses cab files during installation and I had no problems with that install.....

I ran memtest for 24 hours straight and had 0 errors occur. This problem isnt something that happened yesterday, I been fighting with it for 3 days.
I have also tried cycling mem sticks with no problems. Even tried mem out of a different machine that wasnt having this problem.

also. there is a mirror on that page so it might shift to the other website depending on traffic, noclu ehow their loadbalance works

Actually I've just concluded that whoever does the customer service for this game just doesnt care. Emails and posts on their forums have gotten no response.
I sincerely thank you Baleorg for your effort was greatly appreciated. I'm gonna find another game to play I guess.
