If you are fighing rats when the server goes down, will you hang in space for 3 minutes and disappear? or will some low 4k rats have my armageddon before I can log back on? :(

How should KI drones be able to move and attack when the server is down?? A lost connection is something different of course. ____________________________________________________

Hmmm good question. Hope you don't get wasted ... of course though, if you don't and you are in a "hot-spot" whats to stop you getting blasted when the servers come back up?

Edited by: Kenneth Lay on 01/12/2003 16:07:33 This is a simulation game that is as close as real as CCP can make a game. Hence sh** happens, but that is why we in RL have insurance (medical and car).
In Eve you have the same thing (clones and ship insurance).
I do feel kind of bad for you, but then again fighting w/o insurance is a risk, be it a server crash or pirate coming up behind you and killing you. _______________________ CEO of Enron Corporation Enron Corporation (15 members of friends) |

i lost my rupture to 4 30k rats because of a CTD. my downfall was logging back on again. if you have logged or are not online your ship dissapears after about 40 seconds..
apparently a legitimate pvp tactic. so i'm told.. not an exploit in any way.

If the server went down.. That means even the NPC 4k Rats go down as well. The NPC ships run off the server..
Now if you have a node drop or connection issue.. You will sit out in space for a 2 minute anti-flee grace period.
It would take a lot of 4k Rats to bring down an Armageddon in less than 2 minutes. So you should be alright in the future as well.
Even if i'm running a 50k chain. My ship should last at least 2 minutes if I was some how removed from command. And if this does happen. Your best off waiting a couple minutes to log back in. That way you disappear and the missiles will lose their target lock.
Not good for chain spawns but. Drones can really help you out when your not in control anymore.

Well, it depends. Is it the usuall downtime or just a server reboot? Usually they give some warning but in some instances it just goes down. If its downtime then its just your fault coz you had plenty of time to bugger out.

Nothing will happen to you. If the servers go down, so will your ship and the rats. You are file saved at that point.
The moment you log back on, and if you happen to be in a spawn, the rats will start attacking you in seconds, so be alert. If you're in a belt, you may or may not have rats.
Personally I don't see cause to worry.
You should however, follow downtime warnings next time.

If you cant afford tolose the ship, you have no business flying it.

I think you're all missing the point, no matter what the value of the ship, or whether you're insured, or whether can can afford to loose it. IF you get destroyed by occourances outside of you're control, ie. a node drop or server going down, then CCP should replace your lost items. That's it as far as im concerned.

So let me rethink this: You get a msg every day regarding the times that the server goes down, YOU forget about this time and make this stupid mistake to go out and fight npc's. And thats a reason you quit the game?
lol goodluck in your next game, it wont last long thoo. __________________________
