Just an Enquiry....
A friend and i are considering setting up a research POS in empire (yes you've heard it all before). But we were thinking of just renting out the actual mobile labs, instead of just a slot at a time. Ofcourse there would be no time limit as to how long you wanted to rent the lab for.
For instance.. at 40 mill a month (which we decided was a very cheap option considering 1 slot goes for 500k a day on avg) you could pay... 480 mill and receive a lab for the whole year, for those long and tedious mineral research jobs on the large blueprints that are at hand in eve now.
The difference ofcourse is that you would have complete control of the lab yourself. We wouldn't be handling the blueprints atall, you would be set certain priveleges to just be able to access your lab from the station, cutting out the middleman completely.
I think this is a great idea and i haven't seen it done before, but please correct me if i'm wrong.
I'd just like to know if anyone would be interested in this service at all and whether you think this is a good/bad idea?

Something i'd like to add is that all POS fuel would be supplied by me and you wouldn't have to worry about anything like that. As you may of noticed this is more directed at the eve player with a research alt as you would be required to join the corp.

It is being done currently through the creation of a IGA and allowing corps to join and letting them use research slots.
You cannot currently allow use of your research pos's to anyone outside your corp/alliance. It looks like the intention is there (by allowing editing of various standings) but it doesn't work.

in theory you could create a corp specifically to rent labs. Anchor a few of them and invite research alts of any interested person into your corp. Give those research alts standings and roles neccessary for labs usage and charge them for each month in this corp...
in reality though, any pirate corp in the area will war dec such a corp and bring a fleet of battleships to destroy its research POSes..
so you'd do better with a 1-person corp created by your research alt who will manage the POS, hopefully this won't bring as much attention.

Creating a research corp with research alts from various other corps, makes it very easy to steal BPOs belonging to other people...

Not exactly no as CEO only i would have access to all the labs, with specific roles you can actually just allocate a lab to a single person, as we've been playing around with at the POS we currently have.
I wouldn't be stealing any BPOs, i can assure you of that.
Yes, a pirate would be able to come and attack. But as i've read somewhere.. and please do correct me if i'm wrong, but to stop War Decs on just innocents with a POS, Concord do protect War Decced POS?

Concord protects an Empire POS if attacked UNLESS you are at war with the attacker.
If the attacker is at war with you they can attack the POS without Concord interference.
They can't bring capital ships to the party for obvious reasons though.
