LOL HI I HAVE A 'PRESCOTT' 3.06 GHZ P4. I WANT TO UPGRADE IT AND I WAS WONDERING IF COULD HELP ME CHOOSE A NEW PROCESSOR. MY MOBO CAN TAKE UP TO CONROE E6XXX BUT I AM THINKING A SMITHFIELD CPU AS THEY ARE CHEAPER AND ARE STILL BEEFY.
ANY GOOD INTEL SINGLE CORE CPUS RECOMMENDED?
BTW MY SPEC IS CURRENTLY:
3.06 'PRESCOTT' 533FSB 1MB L2 CACHE P4 INTEL CPU
1GB CORSAIR PLATINUM SERIES RAM
GAINWARD BLISS 7900GS 256MB
200GB SEAGATE BARRACUDA

I THINK, THAT IF YOU CHANGE YOUR KEYBOARD FOR ONE THAT DOESN'T TYPE EVERYTHING IN CAPS, YOU MAY RECIEVE HELP WITH YOUR COMPUTER SOONER. YOU COULD ALSO TRY AN ATHLON PROCESSOR, I HEAR THAT YOU GET MORE BANG FOR YOUR BUCK.

Best CPU to get atm is the Intel Duo Core 2. Although i have a AMD x2 Athlon 64 5000+ which runs fine, every site i've read or review show the intel comes out on top, runs cooler too and can be overclocked better.

Depends what your budget is? if it's tight then go for a c2d E6300 with a decent mobo these can clock to over 3 gig without probs, if your budget is a bit bigger then go for a E6600, obviously if you have a large budget then go for a quad core although it may be worth waiting for a while till the prices drop a bit first.
