hey im just trying to have a lil bit of fun in some frigates and stuff what is the best caldari frigate for pvp and what kinna set up?

Tech 1 frigate?
Kestrel or Merlin.
Merlin is a really tackling ship. It can run 4x Nos, a couple of scramblers, (or a webber), a microwarp and then just some cap relays and an armor rep. Voila NPCing battleships's nightmare (just live until your mates show up).
Kestrel is a really good damage frigate. There are people (granted with high skills and expensive fittings) that kill cruisers with it. I'm not too into missiles myself, so I'll have someone else type an exact setup. I suppose fitting standard missile launchers is a good start.

The Bantam is underrated, that thing kicks ass.
Get blown up 2x so you get 2x civ railguns, and you never need ammo... no reload time = higher dps in longer engagements!

have you seen the dps of civies? plus there optimal and falloff? you have to be joking.
merlin is a great tackler, due to having great shield resist, plus 4 mids.
kestrel if you have really nice skills, can get you an intercepter kill now and then )

imo Merlin > Kestrel though. You would to do well to try:
Hi 2xIon Blasters (Modal light ion if you cant use t2's yet) 2xSmall Nos (Knave named or better, E5 proto's are my nos of choice due to price)
Mid Warp Disruptor, 1mn microwarp, Small Shield Booster, X5 Web
Lo Micro Auxiliary Power Core, Nanofiber
This will be moving about 1.7k/s with decent nav skills, and should fit with plenty of room to spare. Basically burn in close and open up with the blasters. Your DPS wont be alot to write home about, but you will suck them dry and probably out-tank them if you have Frig 4.
If your not running solo and have another tackler, swap out the webber for an invul field for some extra frigate ***ness :)

dies to my merlin in seconds. I fought your setup 2 days ago, more or less.
this was my very successfull setup :)
2 x 125mm T2 rails with antimatter 2 x knave small nos
1 x webber 1 x 7.5km scrambler 1 x small shield booster tech II 1 x invul
1 x mag stab II 1 x nanofiber internal
and we had one dead short range merlin :)
I have frig 5 btw and 2.5M in gunnery :) i was used to be ceo and now I have nothing to say, this is so relaxing :) |

alright this is what i did and almost killed a interceptor wiht tech 2 guns had him to 3/4 sheild. but i coulda had a better resist i didnt know i was gonna be pvp. kestrel hi- 4 mankluth rocket launchers with thorns mid- 1 small sheild booster 1 afterburner 1 explosion damp tech 2 (shoulda used an em damp) lows- 2 inerial stabs
i was flying about 600-650, when orbiting i went about 500 orbiting at 500, he wasnt hitting me to good once i got in there, then let go with the rockets, i only had rocket skill 1, and frigate level 3, so i dont think i did to bad, im mainly a caracal pilot with most of my skills in heavy missiles it was just pretty much an experiment i think went alright.

I put off flying the Kestrel for a while, not entirely sure why - but it's a great damage dealer. I've been using;
4 rocket launchers 1 AB 1 warp scrambler Something random in the other mid 2 inertial stabs
.. orbiting close enough to flip them the bird whilst your rockets tear through is a beautiful thing : ) It's cheap to lose and it's a great feeling when you catch a destroyer or a cruiser unaware.

Anyways the kessy and merlin are great at what people stated above,as t2 the crow raptor hawk and harpy are all also good,im not caldari but i think it goes like this...
Crow-tackling(der its a ceptor) raptor-tackling with lower price but less missiles hawk-anti inty good tank lots of missiles harpy-dps support,slap on railguns and such unless you want to go for a blaster harpy ofcourse.
Cov ops is good for certain cases and stealth bombers are good at.............ummm.........picking up mission loot whilst being cloaked? __________________________________________ Yes it is great being amarr. |
