Hello,
I make plenty of ISK through other methods, so I need to know what is the best race to train into for straight pvp. I know a lot of people have caldari ships because they do missions to make money and advance, but that's not an issue for me.
Gallente looks pretty good because in end game having a carrier would be pretty sweet. But that is years away and I would like to know which race of ships is most effective in pvp. Thanks

Can't go wrong with Gallente really, if only because they have the least amount of rotten apples in their lineup. Sure you could make Amarr work in PVP, but you don't have half the viable PVP ships to choose from right off the bat compared to Gallente.
Its great being Amarr and flying NosDoms, Isn't it?! |

Well its been my experience that Minmatar Frigs and cruisers are very good at PVP and as for BS's most can be fitted to suit your needs ....solo pvp or fleet pvp
Hope this helps

This is my opinion of all the races, its just my opinion and nothing more than that. I have not evaluated Battle cruisers as I have very little experience with and against them.
Caldari They have 3 very good bs that can be used in large and small engagements, though the raven suffers in fleet. The eagle is such a well needed ship in pvp, their recon ships are always deadly to fight against, the crow is flexible, flycatcher is fairly weak but as for dictor dmg its very good, their AF are poor though the harpy can be useful, the hawk is not. You will find, ships like the scorp and falcon wont last long, you will find the enemy wants you dead first. This can be a good sign as it shows you how good caldari ships can be, but at the same time it can be frustrating.
Gallente Are probably the best solo pvpers but with the HP increase solo pvp has been nerfed a bit. Gallente has probably the best Fleet BS in the megathron and the best small gang BS in the Dom. Their HACÆs are not flexible as they are mainly used in close combat but the deimos can really hurt and the Ishtar is probably one of the best solo ship in the game, period. The enyo is a brilliant little ship in all engagements where as the iskur is better in smaller battles. The taranis is a hard hitting ceptor and as for the recon ships, like all recon ships they can be useful though you would rather use another recon ship if you had the choice. Overall gallante are great in smaller engagements but if you rely on your drones the larger engagements can be a pain. They have many really good ships in the game. Plenty to choice from
Minmatar Along side the megathron the tempest is brilliant in fleet and small gang ship. Their hacs are brilliant, the muninn chews up support where as the vagabond is the best solo ship in the game. A good vagabond pilot is extremely deadly. Their AF are brilliant, flexible and fast, their recon ships are great against support. As for their ceptors I have no comment but from I heard they are very good. They have the best dictor in the game. However Minmatar are not great against caldari and gallente ships and considering they are the most popular races in eve, this doesnÆt help. In my eyes, Minmatar are the most underrated race in eve. They have a great mixture of ships with good slot layout.
Amarr. The Apoc and geddon are very good but not as flexible as other races, the abaddon I have no comment for but believe me they will hurt if you can figure away to sustain their cap while holding a decent tank. Their hacs are hard hitting against smaller and bigger ships with decent range and tank, their recon ships are brilliant, the crusader is a great ceptor and flexible, the retribution is the hardest hitting AF in the game but is not flexible at all, the vengeance just sucks period, their dictor I have no comment for. Overall a good amarr pilot is a strong force but an avg amarr pilot is fairly week. Seems like a hard race fly.
Overall, Cadari has great role playing ships, Gallente ships you just want to keep away from in battle, Minmatar are so fast, and what can be more flexible than a race that has faster ships, and amarr has some very very good ships that are surrounded with some poor ships. They can tank hard and they will hit hard.

Gallente on easy mode, Minmataar for the ultimate PvP experience.
Amarr had the upperhand for a long time and will be very good again when EANM IIs will be fixed.
Caldari has lost it's EW nberness (feel free to disagree but scorpions are starting not to be called primaries anymore) and has sub-par damage from frigs up to the top, while being somewhat resiliant and king of PvE.
Best overall race: Gallente hands down. ____________________ A gentleman is someone who can play the bagpipe, but who does not. |

If you go minmatar just remember you wont hit anything for at least the first 5m SP. Keep focused on your gunnery, armor tanking and navigation skills.
while each race has its good ships and bad ships i will say minmatar seem to be some of the best pvp ships in the game. The real downfall is that they require 2x the skill points to be effective in.

gallente and amarr seem to be stock and trade for most PVPers only because a large % of players are still into calderi pilots and tend to be balancned as each other overall

Worst PvP race is Caldari. Best PvP race is Gallente. --------------------------------- Hint 1: Train for Mega, not for Rokh Hint 2: Abaddon is uber fleet BS. R.I.P. <Torpedo Raven> R.I.P. <Eagle> R.I.P. <ECM> R.I.P. <Drake>

You probably want gallente tbh. Minnie are a lot of fun for smaller ships, but I only see complaints about the capital minnie ships. Gallente seem to be the way to go for capitals, even though I think Amarr is pretty common too.

From all replies, this one holds probably the most truth. Ships are extensions of ones playstyle, the player determines through its usage how effective they actually are. As for races, it probably boils down to what starting attributes and skills you prefer. You¦re always free to train for other races ships as you see fit.

I'm sorry, but isn't this kinda subjective? I mean, all races can fly all ships as long as they got the skills so, i guess it all goes down to base stats (int, mem, per, etc..).
I'm not sure how those stats affect the game but, aside from that, wouldn't all races be 'good' choices for pvp since all that matters is the skills? *shrugs* ______________

Heres how my training has gone
Caldari > Amarr > Gallente > Minmatar
I went from easiest to use to hardest, and ended up specializing mostly in Gallente. However I find Minmatar the most fun, and a minny ship is almost always what you'll find me in for small scale pvp, for fleets my baby is a Megathron hands down.
Volt It's great touching your own dink isn't it?

The thing that singes out one race as the best PvP race is not the ships the race has, not the skills you start with, nor what corps you have access to.
The thing that makes one race the best PvP race is your starting stats.
If you want to choose the best possible PvP char you should make sure you maximize your PvP related stats as much as possible, starting stats is the one thing that makes the different races different after a years playing. A gallente player with a skill setup of X will be exactly as good at flying a gallente ship as for example an Amarr player with the same X skill setup.

Caldari got nerfed bad, they used to be on par with gallente on pvp. NOw its just minimatar and gallente are good at pvp. It was actually fun going against those deadly torpedos, and ecm. Kinda makes pvp more dumb down, its all about gallente and minmatar now.
