Marquis Dean Repo Industries	Posted - 2007.01.09 00:06:00 - [1] I mostly fly an Armageddon and it's giant drone bay has only ever been a blessing, especially as I have a lot of SP in Drones, as I fly Gallente too, but something has come up. This would matter less in PvP, but in PvE i'm getting increasingly impatient with the lumbering pace of Heavy Attack drones. They do piles of damage to be sure, but when it takes 15-20 seconds plus to reach their target, and particularly when those targets are cruisers which hardly last long anyway, they have to do alot of flying and it's annoying. So I was wondering: with Heavy Drone Op III Combat Drone Op IV Drone Interfacing IV Drone Nav IV would Hammerhead II's serve me better than Ogre I's? I'm sure the Ogres will have more dps, but often these drones are going after cruisers at 30km out that my megabeams can't track. I don't want a huge drop in dps, but if they can get there on time it will be alot more useful. Plus, I can fit 10 meds and 5 lights in the bay, instead of just 5 heavies = good for frigs. I know Berserkers are faster than Ogres, but that's not what i'm asking. Is the dps of 5 x Med Scout II's comparable to the dps of 5 x Heavy I's, within a given damage type. ------ ------

If your using them on BS as a major damage source then your probably going to need heavys, but if your not you will find mediums do alot better. So the answer I would say is, for cruisers frigs and somewhat battlecruisers then go with smalls/meds. For BC to BS go with heavies. If you have a mixture of BS/Cruisers/Frigs then go with meds/lights to kill the support while your geddon takes out the battleships. Apoc is good but I would still use geddon.

Sentry drones outdamage Heavies by a decent margin, unless I'm missing something. Lowest damage sentry drone (Warden) has a multiplier of 1.2 but a damage of 50. An Ogre I has a multiplier of 1.6 but a damage of 24.

Insurance fraud ftw Lol. I'd echo what others have said - for frigs, cruisers and BCs go for mediums. 25K+ frigs will need small drones to track them. In general the travel time of the mediums makes up for the longer killing time. Assuming you're using pulses, the BCs are pretty much fodder anyway unless they get under your guns. Also, try throwing a couple of webber drones on targets to keep them in optimal more easily. I LOVE those things. Max skills 6 guns /.75=8 guns. An 8 gun apoc does the same amount of gun damage as a 6 gun max skills Armageddon sans drones, which is what he was asking. ---------------------------------------- Thou Shalt "Pew Pew"

I know this gets said a lot, and I used to agree but now that I have a 2m SP alt in a Raven doing L4 missions I really, REALLY agree. Raven is the mission king, nothing comes even close. The payoff in training for it is worth it. Its great being Amarr and flying NosDoms, Isn't it?!

And also, my Amarr BS skill is only on 3 and it isn't going any higher for quite some time, I have other things to train for. ------ ------
