Is this a good match?
What modules / tactics would anyone care to recommend?
Thanks!

Start off with a hurricane or cyclone first, and when you've got better skills and familiarity with the missions then you could try.

Well, im not skilled very good (about 1.3mil SP) and i can do most L3¦s in my rupture. I have to be very careful tho and there are a few missions i wont accept (the blockade for example). Most missions take some time to complete, because i have to use lots of Afterburner to draw some distance between the pirates/npc¦s. two or three times i was nearly destroyed, but if you are careful and warp out fast if it gets too hot you can do it. Better insure your ship and do this only if you could afford a second rupture ;)
My setup is standard i guess. 4xDual 180mm AC 2xHeavy Missile launcher (sometimes i switch to assault launcher when there are mostly smaller ships) AB, Webber and cap recharger Medium Armor repair, DCU, ENAM and a gyro.
Im too lazy to fit rat specific hardener, i guess it could be a bit easier if i would do so ;)
Im currently doing this because i want a hurricane and with L2 missions it would take ages to get the money...now i have done L3 missions for 3 days and earned about 25mil isk only with them...i guess two or three more days and i have my hurricane ;)

I use to run lv3s in my rupture with the following set-up
3 X 720mm Howitzler Artillery 3 X Assault Missile Launcher (Not Heavy assault)
1 X Tracking Computer 2 X Cap Recharger
1 X Medium Armour Repairer 1 X 400mm Plate 3 X Hardeners
Baring the very hardest lv3s I never had a problem. ---------- It's great being minmatar, ain't it |

I use this setup:
High: 4 x 650mm Artillery 2 x Heavy Missile Launcher
Medium: 1 x 10MN Afterburner 2 x Cap Recharger I
Low: 1 x Medium Armor Repairer (T2) 2 x PDU 2 x Armor Hardeners (Mission specific)
Drones (Mission specific): 1 x Medium 4 x Light
Of course this High slot fitting is crap against frigates and Interceptors but since I noticed how effective drones are against the small ships I have switched to this high damage setup and use the high slot weapons only to kill cruisers and bigger ships and the drones for the frigs and destroyers.
The 2 Cap Rechargers and the 2 PDUs give a Cap recharge rate fast enough to run the armor repairer very very long.
The tank isn't strong enough for Slave Traders 2/2 and at least very risky for Mordus Headhunters and usually I have to warp out once in these missions (not done the new Blockade and Thief missions until now).
With the Afterburner and the high damage fitting for all other missions it is the fastest way to complete a level 3 for me. But in some missions it needs to be careful and more concentration compared to a battlecruiser with its much stronger tank.

Did you test this strange setup in the harder level 3 missions? Especially against laser rats (Massive attack, Slave Traders for example)? I mean: 0% shield resists against EM... and how do you come close enough to your enemies with the slow Rupture to use your 180s?

I agree with this sentiment. I could not get enough defence (tanking) out of a Rupture to make the harder L3 missions worthwhile. A battlecruiser such as the cyclone seems a much better match and uses similar guns / module types. Of course they are over 4 times more expensive which could be an issue.
I cannot think why, with more skills and experience, there would be any reason to move back to a cruiser though Dahak.

With low skills, less guns, and having to be so careful compared to a Battlecruiser it just isn't time efficient to run level 3 missions in a cruiser. I believe you can get money as fast just blowing through level 2's without the risk. Brakus Eve Wiki |

My ruppy has: High: 3 heavy launchers, 1 180 mm dual auto 2 med nos Mid: 1 web, 1 10 MN ab, whatever i want in 3rd slot low: 1 med armor rep, 1 explosive hardener, 1 thermal, 1 kinetic, t2 damage control
I have three armor rigs, two explosive, one kinetic
72/75/76/71 resists. And it can take on NPC BS without a problem, the 2x nos allows it to rep quite quickly.
