Hello.
I have been running cargo missions for the last week or so having a great time of it. Today something strange happened. I accepted 3 contracts (all +0.5). I set out to pick up the items/ deliver them. Half way there I check my contracts screen and there are only 2 contracts. I check the wallet and see that yes, 3 seperate amounts were withdrawn from my account. I check the planet and, yes the package is sitting at the starbase. So I have 3 pacakges and 2 contracts. I was even a pro and never looked at the contents of any of the jobs. Is it true that I have been scammed? That you can just fail a contract at anytime and keep the collateral?
I cannot believe after using the builtin contract button, selecting a courier mission, and confirming multiple times that I wanted to do it, that that would not be secure, or AT LEAST, there was no risk to me, as long as I speedily delivered the package.
Is this how this game works by design or is this some sort of contract bug? Who the hell would ever do a 80 million dollar courier mission and risk losing it? This is the first one ive ever done where this has happened. What did I do wrong? |

I believe the minimum amount of time is 24 hours - from the point you accept the mission. Where the old system you could easily grab a mission that was about to expire and fail because you didn't have nearly enough time.
If you think the mission ended prematurely, and you didn't break the package (and no friends - or enemies - have access to the account that might have)... petition it. But be prepared to wait at least 30 days to see a response.

Well to be fair, I didnt look at the date. That makes me feel better. It could have been my fault. Means the whole system isn't broken as I previously thought which is good. Is there anyway to find out who the contract was with, and it silently fails? with no eve mail?

I just set up a public courier mission and had my alt accept it. I was unable to cancel or delete the mission while it was in progress.
If you somehow grabbed a Freeform contract, that for sure is a scam but those are difficult to pull off and no actual item.
I'd petition it for sure.

Well I'd love to get in touch with the guy, give him his package and get my monies back (or post the equiv bounty on his head :) depending which way the conversation went, but i can find no record of this transaction except in the wallet that has no name. If it truely is a bug.. I mean i've run like at least 80 courier missions and it never happened before so I did find it unbelievable that I was so lucky.

Are you looking in the correct area?
Look under "Contracts" then "Issued to:" and of course, your name.
Today I ran into a bug where it would not let me "complete" the contract, even after delivering to my target. I filed an "I'm stuck" petition and they fixed it right up.
What exactly are freeform contracts, by the way?

This happened to me.
To be precise, it was a COURIER MISSION NOT FREEFORM.
I reviewed the mission, the collateral was around 5 mil,
and the time remain was reasonable (3-4 days ?)
I took the mission, added the the issue'r to friends list to
monitor online status of that person. They were offline the
entire time. I made it to drop point, opened contracts to
conclude mission. Contracts were gone...
The issue'r was never online. how could they cancel ?
The contracts didnt show in failed, or current, issued by me
issued by them, etc.. it was simply gone..
Welp, guess what ? i mash keyboard, relogg, clear cache, turned
around 13 times, chanted bloody marie in the dark, etc.. the usual
ritual performed in times of wtf-ness..
and when i got back...
The mission had reappeared and i completed them.

Something similar happened to one of my alts on a courier contract. The contract was listed but it wouldn't let me complete it. I logged off and when I logged back on a little later I was able to complete it.
Try taking the package where it needs to go and check the contracts again, it might show up again.

Please try as others have suggested and relog, clear cache, mash keyboard a few times if it helps. If you are sure you didn't go over the "deliver by" date please file an exploit petition and the GM's can look at it.
I have done some testing regarding this issue and the only way i can set a courier contract to "fail" is when the deadline has passed (minimum deadline = 1 day)

oh balls. It was totally my fault. The contracts screen was messed up. They werenet in my journal but when I fiddled around with the contracts screen they showed up there. yay now I dont have to quit!
I knew it wouldnt be that retarded. Ill use the contracts screen now and not the journal to keep track of contracts.

I had something similar happen before that I reached the destination with the package and it would not let me complete it.
When I sent a message to the owner of the package I got a haha you can keep it type response, except that the contents weren't even worth the reward I would of gotten and the collateral was about 100x the price of what it was worth.
I got a refund after I pointed it out that it looked like they had done some kind of exploit and that I would be petitioning it. At that point they paid me back my collateral after the contract expired and didn't even ask for their stuff back.
So I am inclined to think there are some ways to exploit this system that people are using.
try get in contact with the owner and tell them you have the package ready for pick up. See what happens, if you got the package there on time then it should be legit.
