Ok had my first vengeance mish last night, did first two stages easily, then a friend came online and helped out with the final stage as i wasn't exactly sure how dangerous it would be.
He tanked the turrets in his phoon and i killed the main spawn in my raven, although cap was very low at one point. Anyway was wondering how hard it is to solo this last part, im not interested in the final guy - yet, would like to know people strategy for getting that far, how many times they have to warp etc? what you kill first?
Would it work if you fitted a sensor booster, moved away from the spawn and kill the turrets first? I wouldnt want to get webbed by getting to close to the group while trying to shoot the turrets.
Any pointers would be great as I dont want to turn it down if i get it again and i dont have any help :)
And of course after I have sussed this I will have to kill the final chap but that is for another day :)

I can easily solo the last stage, I just remove a hardner and install an afterburner. Move slowly toward the boss killing the sentries and webbing frigates 1st. Then punch the burner to get in close to the 2.5mil BS and trash it..... Easy....
I am using a rack of Arbie Cruise launchers, I do however have a Gist B-Type XL Booster which helps somewhat.

In the last stage I always kill the turrets first (not including the 2 rats sitting at the warp in point) then deal with the main spawn.
The secret to Killing the boss rat in this mission is a Raven fitted with 3 bcu in the lows. Keep spamming him with missles (I use cruise) and he should go down. Maybe not with ease, but he should go down. -----------------------------------------------

Those turrets do EM damage, so make sure you have a suitable hardner fitted otherwise you will be warping out several times before they are dead, the rest is easy after the turrets are gone.

Yeah fit 3 T2 hardners... 1 therm 1 em and 1 kin
kill the first spawn (dont shoot at the guns.. this will agra all the spaws --> This applies to all lv4 missions). Then take out the rest of the spawns one by one and take out the boss last.

thanks for the advice, would you fit the three hardeners to cover all bases or would you tank for the spawn or the turrets?
Also im pretty sure the main group is one big spawn so from what i can tell you are going to get agro from everything whichever you shoot first :(

Could it be you guys are talking about different versions? There are at least three (Blood, Sansha, Guristas) and probably 5 (Never done Angel or Serp since Minnie and ***lente hate me but I guess they exist) which are all slightly different, especially in the last level.
Clarifying which version you are on about could help
They can all be soloed easily with a good fitting, but I guess a n00bish T1 Raven might struggle.
For me, the hardest one is the Blood version where you get a few harmless turrets and a small spawn aggroing you on entry, and then a big blob with the boss which can be quite tough and possibly too much for a low end runner.
The Guristas and Sansha both have a bunch of sentries, and only the boss and one other BS and some inties I think. Those are both extremely easy if you kill the sentries asap. People kept on whining about not being able to break Rachen's (Guristas boss) tank for a long time, but personally I always found him/her going down fast enough so I guess those people just had crap fittings or skills. --------- ZOMG my sig was concordokkened! I lost my Tempest to this mission, mostly out of "I almost got him, just one more hit!" syndrome. :)
The Minmatar version takes you up against a boss Raven spamming 1000-point EM torpedoes, very nasty. Seeing as I've only beaten it once, the best advice I can give is: expect to refit for the final mission. Try to save the boss for last. (I failed partly because I was concentrating on the boss and had one last battleship hurting me enough to make it untankable...)

Just thought I would throw this out there. I soloed this mission for the first time last night with a newbish raven that would ordinarily not have the dps to take out the final rat. Solution was to clear the spawn (I took out the turrents with a sensor booster 1st then everything other than the 2.5mil rat) Warped back to station and fitted a 100mn afterburner and a webber. With only the 2.5mil rat I simply approached him without targetting till I was withing 15km, turned on the ab, targeted and webbed him. Killed him at point blank with less than 1 rack of torps and my 5 vespa 2's no Prob. Just thought i'd throw that out there for anyone who has a tough time killing that rat solo.

Yeah thats what i was sort of thinking re: the sensor booster, and it was the minnie version we did, although cant rememeber who it was against, tough to tank the whole blob so i expect i'll need to warp when i try it again (still waiting for it).
but yes we found that he went down very quickly when webbed and droned :)

I got this mission twice today.
I find it easy to solo, I have 2x EM rigs on my Raven which makes the turrets a lot less dangerous though.
The only hard part I suppose is the time it takes to blow up the last guy.
For the second mission I just got my friend in a frig to web the BS so i could get my drones into range and he went down in a minute or so. Beats spending 15 minutes killing one ship. |

I usually have to warp out once on the last part to swap a sensor booster for an afterburner.
Kill the sentries first put medium t2 drones on one nearby BC NOS the other kill the frigates with the drones kill the nonnamed battleship with cruise missiles warp out, fit AB AB to the named guy but don't fire until he fires first. get within 9km and let loose with your cruise missiles. he goes down after one reload.

The sanshas version last room is a joke. You start 70 km away from everything, get out drones (i use them with control link aug), kill everything at my leisure, because... The turrets don;t fire at all unless you get to less than 50 km. Lol?

I do every lvl 4 in my sleip
I can do just about every mission with out warping out. takes about 7,000 rounds of emp and 350 heavy missiles.
To kill the 2.5 BS i save him for last cause I have to use my drones to break his tank fast. I can kill him in about 1-2 mins. I use the same setup for every mission so I never have to worry about what hardners to use for the missions.
The only pain in the ass missions are the ones that jam you.. took me 20 mins to kills one side of the misssion cause they would jamme me for 30 sec and then I had about 10 sec to kill them before getting jammed for another 30 sec. what a PAIN!!
