been trying ( so-so succesfully ) to run a complex. this moring, a guy zooms in and goes through all the gates and loots the overseer at the end. Must have had the keys, that is not the problem however. I can't go through the gates w/o killing everything, barr sentry drones, before passing though. He however did not, he left a few wrecks, but the vast majority of the rats were still there. So, before I go off half*****ed and file an exploit petition, is the guy exploiting? or am I just a noobish complex runner and don't know how to properly run it?

Mate dont join the alleciances of exploit dreams, see LV and others ( like to smack from time to time). The guy had the keys he went for the overseers directly, thats they way complexes are made, been there done that. GL!

Looks like you didn't read either. He's pointing out that the gates shouldn't activate even WITH the keys, if there's NPCs present.
Also, just noticed that it changes my name in the 'edited by' text... :|

Wait, he gated without killing the rats?
Even with a key, you shouldn't be able to do that without killing the rats. Sounds like an exploit to me.

Maybe the game only checks if the original aggressor kills all the rats.

I think it sounds like a bug, and someone has found out about it, and are using it to exploit the game instead of bug report it. But Im no expert. I would report it as a possible exploit just to be sure. It sounds like you are pretty sure of what you saw.

In my experience the gates won't let you jump until every rat is dead, and if even one respawns, you can't gate.

Different complexes work differently.
While many complexes demand that you kill off all the rats in the area before the gate will allow you to pass through this is not always the case.
Likewise not all complexes have keys to the different gates.
Asuming the player did not abuse a bug to get past the gates I can only come to the conclution that it is not breaking the rules.
Nothing in the rules state that you must honor a players claim to a complex, nothing in the rules state you have to kill every rat, nothing in the rules state you have to be nice about it... sadly.
I know of a few complex types that you can run through without killing off more than maby 3-4 rats/structures, one for each level to get the key and then the final overseer to get the potential loot, I have always felt it was a tad silly that you didnt have to kill off anything but it has helped me a few times when I have had tagalongs following me into the complexes. Thise people waited for me to activate the gate and then followed me in, I simply got the next key fast and gated as fast as I could to the next level leving the tagalongs facing a whole complex level angry as hell and all pulled together.

The skicker is that he does not have to kill all the rats but I do. I do cary extra keys also, so that was not the problem. Eh, I am going to let the GM's sort it out.

That is odd.
The only reason for this as far as I can figure is that the gate is only locked as long as there are rats aggressed at you.
Since all rats are on you he is able to sneak in under the radar.
Could be worth testing this theory with a buddy as Im sure that is not the intent of the game :)

please give me the complex name.
please also file a bug report, detailed, including the name of the person you believe may be exploiting this. ___________________________ ~Jiekon
