I am thinking of becoming a Stealth Bomber/explorer. Would it be a waist of my time to try this with a Manticore? I am hope to be able to wander in all LVLs of space and Alpha strike weak players or Rats while exploring space. I on the cusp of spending the ISK as soon as my skills are up to the challange. Is a Recon ship a better choice for this? Thanks for the Help.

A Recon ship is MUCH better. It can warp cloaked and has much more firepower and tank. You can even solo BSes in them.

There's nothing stealthy about a stealth bomber, although to be fair, they have a monster alpha strike against small targets. If you were being pinned down by an interceptor, two volleys of cruise missile and it'd be dead.
But yeah, recon cruiser is vastly better for exploring and much safer. I think the rook would be best at this, the other 3 aren't so good against rats as damping/nos/ultralongrange webbing don't really work. With a rook you could jam rats and players who are chasing you.

The rook cannot mount the covops cloaking device. I suppose you mean the falcon.
For sneaking and solo pvp the 2 best are pilgrim and arazu. Recons cost a load of isk. 70-90mil for the ship and 68mil for the cloak.

sounds cool, but from what i know of exploring, this is a really bad idea. unless you have lots of skills in exploration (especially the 8x multiplier skill signal acquisition) you won't be able to do both oppourtunistic pvp and exploration. the -25% scan time on the astro t1 frig or the better -30% to 40% reduction from the covops frig are an absolute necessity. saves you money on probes, and hours of time. Also consider that while scanning, warping anywhere breaks the scan, so you're either going to be scanning or killing, not both. a third and final consideration is that probes are on timers, and you can only get in a set number of scans before they expire, so its not like you'll have time to shoot people in between scans unless you really like redeploying probes all day. many of the worthwhile sites are hard to find, and take up to 25-50 scans, depending on your skills and luck.
so as a final word, dont do this, get a covops, and find a good book to read in between scans.
of course, you could have like 30m sp, a billion isk, and 8 hours a day to search a single system, in which case this is an excellent idea.

I think he means explorer like in "exploring space" and not Kali exploration with probes, but I could be wrong.

Heh, if you were pinned down by an interceptor, you'd be dead before the second volley got fired.

If a stealth bomber kills an interceptor, the pilot was an idiot. The bomber will need to be doing his best long range instalock-damp-cloak-repeat, or he'll die.
And no, it wont work with a stealth bomber. They can't cloak and warp. Thus they'll get killed.

Quite correct, except that a skilled Stealth Bomber pilot really has little chance of being killed unless he is unlucky enough to come out of warp right next to someone or something.
He can cloak, align, get up to speed... and then uncloak/warp long before anyone can hope to get a lock.
It requires more skill than doing the same thing in a recon or covert ops... but it can be very entertaining.

Stealth Bombers aren't very good unless there's a pack of them. And then they would be better off in different ships.

I use my stealth bomber strictly either killing HAC's in a gang or Destroying the mining cans of enemies in 0.0/low sec (alot of the time if your realy carefull you can launch missiles at 4+ cans before anything happens and costem a ton of isk in a few seconds).
