Well, I'm American but I will soon be getting my dual citizenship with the UK. After I do I want to spend a bit of time there. The only other times I have been was when I was young to see family. I was thinking of going to London and Leeds already but other than that I'm not really sure. I love music so a good music so a good music scene would be nice. Other than that where do you guys think I should go?

Glasgow has the single best music venue in the UK, and also loads of clubs and bars to suit all music tastes.

Well DONT go to Swindon, it sucks here. London is your best bet! And drink propper beer!

Seriously though, we do have the S.S.Great Britain, and the single last standing (and working) Concorde in the UK.

head for the coast down cornwall in the summer & stay in the countryside instead

Swindon is crap I'll give you that. But Bristol is cool, and there is some very nice countryside around the west country, down through Devon and Cornwall.
But check it all out

Aww i love bristol (well love the chic's there) but i hate the bloody hills in bristol, you go up a hill to go out and up a hill to go home :|.
I would say london, i was born n bread in london and you can get anything u want here.

See what Lonely Planet or Rough Guide books suggest? I think London, Edinburgh, Bath, and Stratford Upon Avon are the 'big touristy ones'.
You could also try and see what the Wikipedia says about the UK, or what Virtual Tourist says.

Liverpool has a good music scene. Just the accent may get to you. And yes i'm from Liverpool. Leeds, Newcastle, Manchester and Newquay (in the summer) have always been good for a good time.

You know, this thread has actually done the impossible- made me nostalgic for Swindon. It may only be Swindon, but I miss my home town......chav infested or not.......
Oh, and if you're into that kind of thing- Wiltshire is the proud owner of both Stonehenge and Avebury, god knows how many White Horse hill figures, The Ridgeway (most ancient road in Britain) and all sorts of other ancient whatnots. That IF you're in to that kind of thing

Newcastle! Best nightlife in the UK, plenty of culture if you like art galleries and museums and that, plenty of lovely scenery (Grey Street, the bridges, the women - 2 unis means lots of student girls), friendly locals (if you can understand our accents).
Anyway, head north, it's grim down south
