I'm interested in getting into trading and wondering if there is any feature to check how many of a certain item are sold each day? I'm just curious on what the demand are on things.

If you found an item on the market that you want info about, go to the View Details section of the item, then click the tab "Price History". Normally you now get a graph showing the moving average. Below in the window is a button "Show Table", click that and you get the raw numbers of how many orders and items were exchanged and for what high and low price.
Hope that helped ~Soi ______________________________

Does anyone use the graph, or can anyone interpret it even? ^^

Yes, the graph is used a lot, if nothing else the simple averages - to estimate should something be selled higher or lower that you think.
The odd hi-low bars have something to do with economic mathematics more, but there was some dev blog ages ago about the details of market graphs.
One example of analysis can be found here, just as an example that they are used. -- V.H. |

Edited by: Kua Mortal on 11/01/2007 11:04:52 Edited by: Kua Mortal on 11/01/2007 11:04:40 Let me see if I understand it correctly:
The green bar graph (all my maths knowledge is being replaced by EVE stuff, so I'm not sure if that's teh right name ) at the bottom is a simple representation of how many of the product were sold on a given day. Although for the 6 month and year versions, each bar might represent the total of a few days or weeks (or do they represent the average of a few days or weeks?)
The moving average (5 day) for say the 8th of January, is the mean of all sell values for the 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th and 11th of January. Or is it for the 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th?
The median day price is exactly what it says it is presumably (this doesn't seem to be always the case in EVE, so I'll spell it out to check I've got it right ). Say 5 small shield boosters had been sold in a particular region on a particular day, it would take the 3rd highest price (I've always thought of the median as not being that useful: do people find it useful here?)
Finally the donchian channel appears to be an indicator of the lowest and highest sell prices.
Thanks for clearing this up for me. :)Oh and as you can see that practical example really helped me out Vir, thank you.

- median is not exactly average value. It is the price value of middle items sold (number of items above and below it are equal, not prices)... uh... Maybe this Wikipedia entry will help more.
Explanation was something like, that median counts in the sizes of invidual purchases... maybe?
- Donchian Channel... ah... that was the funny term. It was something to do how much the predictable value of thing fluctuates, whatever... refer to this little thing in Wikipedia - Donchian Channel

Actually, median is really more accurate than average. But it really depends on scale.
With an 'Average', a few outlyers (that idiot who is selling one PDU for 1M isk) can screw up the whole average value. But this effect becomes less so with large numbers of 'regular' priced orders.
FYI, the scale at the bottom right side shows the number of items sold for that time period, i.e. it scales the green bars.
