You have to pay the same amount for the download as you do for the CD.

I have only one thing to say to you guys at CCP:
CONGRATULATIONS.
Now the ball is rolling, EVE can reach any place with an internet connection.
Only here in my city, from a country that I knew only 3 ppl playing it, there are more 3 (just tonight) that want to register and start playing.
I hope you guys at CCP extended all these modifications to server performance too, because if everything goes right, the community has the potential to explode now. _______________________________________________

In that case...

that's something i've had in the back of my mind for some time, but kept forgetting to post about it.
if they must insist on keeping the one hour DT each day.
please change it to rotate in a different time slot each month.
one change per month should be enough

No I don't. It's way cheaper to download.

YAAAAA!!
Now we're talking!
Exellent work on the new site. And the ability to download EVE and buy an accountkey online is just awesome!
Here in Denmark EVE is pretty expensive, due to the postage and a 25% sales tax thats placed on all products.
By making EVE downloadable, we, the players, can spread the word and get more friends to join more easily. Exellent!

Umm im confused ... couldn't you just download the latest full build for free from the patches area? I did indeed purchase a copy but the CD never worked from day 1 (damaged sector) so I downloaded it from the patches area.
CCP: BTW, As at this time 7:18 GMT, I just tried the Patches area and some of the links are broken.
Cya!

That would be very hard for everyone to keep track of and I thought the DT was gonna be reduced to like 15 minutes. no? ____________________________________ Taggart wants YOU. Join TTi! *waves his hand in your face in the jedi way* |

So if wanted to open a second account, all I'd need is a new key?

Which will presumably send you a key which you can then register with. :)

Well, I doubt they'll remove the fee for the key, but it's still a lot easier to get EVE. Personally, I like having a box and such, but a lot of people doesn't care, so its all good.

My eve disk is unique in that i've only used it the once, to lose the Beta install and start the retail patching process...
oh, and i have a collection of game manuals and some select boxes that go back to, err, the Pinball Construction set might be the oldest 'conplete' one. Collection? sorta... never clean *?!! up? You betcha!
who knows, with the proper waves of nostalgia maybe one day i can retire on it

They have to charge for the key otherwise everyone would start a new account for free, play the game free for the first 30 days and then cancel... in those 30 days you'd have anarchy with all those throw-away greifer characters doing anything they want with no reprocussions! LOL!

Asian release? You're kidding, the entire collection of Asian countries is too busy playing Starcraft and Final Fantasy XI to care about any other game. :)
