Well see, while you mine, you can partake in the internets famous "hot or not" campaign, but in this version, its EVE Characters.
You vote on the characters from 1-10 (1 being lowest, 10 being highest) on how you feel they look.

I think it's like a "hot or not" essentially. Honestly I don't really like the idea of having that be such a prominent part of the interface here.
I mean, it's meaningless more or less, it shouldn't occupy 20% of the screen.

Sounds pretty ghey to me. I thought it was a listing of top security status people.

Exactly...
But Like I said earlier, my portrait should replace the two boneheads they have up there now.
Then there would be no need for this "hot character" silliness... and the 20% of screen space can be better utilized...

Horrible, horrible, horrible.
Devs, please pull this garbage. It cheapens you.
Think of it this way, which of these scenarios is more likely to occur:
1. "OMG! That Hot Character box on the webpage is awesome! I can't wait to buy an account!!!!"
2. "Uh...game looks ok, but what is with the lame hot or not clone? Not the kind of professionalism I'd like in a dev team. Maybe I'll come back in a few months."

I just recently joined SI.. and I haven't changed much, if at all.. so.. yeah ;P
The Devs have a say on what goes on the site, but I have a feeling they don't totally care about the website, but more about the game.
Pann and her team of roguies handle the website..

Are you sure? If so, where do we vote for these people?
If we are just guessing here I will throw out my guesses and say that it could be something relating to the top posters in the forum or, more likely, a list of the newest characters in Eve. I only say this because most of the people on the list have no portraits yet. It is kinda hard for this to be a "hot or not" contest without the portraits.
If it is the newbies, I think that is a damned slick idea for getting new people involed in the main website scene to see themselves on the list.
Edit: It hasn't been pulled. The content on the right changes with different page loads. You can see the Hot Characters list if you lcick on the Eve Insider link on the left.

It was up-and-running for awhile last night. It was identical to the HoN interface - portrait + 1-10 rating scale. Had nothing to do with the forums or game, just a silly feature that seems to have been pulled anyway.
