I want to run missions for the Angel Cartel. As I understand it I will lose standings with the various so called good guys, namely the four races Navy's. This is all fine and dandy. Also my understanding is that they will shoot me when my standing goes too low (-5.0 I believe?) This is where I think its unfair, They can shoot me (no problem with that, it makes sense) but If I do manage to take them down they just re-spawn. Is this correct? If so then this seems unfair and does not logically make sense. Next thing that seems out of whack is that, lets say I get high standings with the Cartel, surely logic would say that they like me and the Angel rats will not attack me? You would think so but from my research this does not happen. They will still attack me. So to conclude, I will be attacked by both sides. How is this fair/logical? It is not. From a role playing perspective it just does not make any sense either.
I was told whining gets you stuff So come on CCP you have an awesome game here but some of the logic regarding factions and standings are wrong. I have whined now, so can you change it for me

How about Concord not shooting the rats in hi-sec space? Same thing.

Simple solution, remove npc pirate factions and allow players to become those pirate factions so they can play both good and bad sides

How does it not? If you run into a military base in real life and shoot a few guys, do you think that this will be the end of it? Of course not. There are planty of people nearby who will be more than happy to shoot you for your troubles.

I sort of agree on this to a point, but just try to keep in mind, they are pirate scum. Maybe you should pick better friends?

Scum killing scum. From the perspective of a guy RPing a guy in the Caldari Navy it makes perfect sense. Saves the Navy some trouble, really.

Although i do agree with you it doesn't make much sense for both sides to shoot you I'm going to have to disagree. IF anybody got a high standing with a NPC pirate corp they could then mine in that corps 0.0 space freely without being touched by rats.
But maybe a nice way to make it more role playing would be for the pirate ships not to shoot you until you shot them (lowering your standing) or if you started to mine in one of there areas they would shoot you showing you a message on the screen saying that you do not have permission to mine in this area.

Why shouldn't this happen? If you own the 0.0 space and have high standings with the "locals"?

This would make more sense in my opinion.
Thanks for being constructive and not trolling

I agreee
But i think it is a case of game balancing over logical reasoning
The same reason why ships have a max speed in space, the same reason why u can fly through planets, the same reason why NPC pirates always hate you... :)
They could come up with some vallied RP reason for it i am sure, but why bother, it is done to maintain balance, lower security areas have harder NPC to make the lower ores harder to get and mine.

Again, you are not dealing with nice people. I'm a generally nice person, but if you go rummaging through my things and stealing money out of my wallet, I'm going to get seriously ****ed. If you go trying to "steal" ore from the asteroids that these pirates are patrolling, then they aren't going to be to happy with you. And once again, these are not nice people.
The navy of each nation is there to protect empire space from criminals. From you. That's why they shoot at you. The pirate factions are out to make an isk at someone else's expense, and if they could be relied upon not to go back on their word and to treat people fairly, they probably wouldn't have gotten into pirating in the first place. So they have no qualms about making a buck off the guy that retreived a shipment for them or whatever you did to raise standings with them if no other convenient mark presents itself to them. That's why they shoot at you.

So you're saying that the rats should only attack you in asteroid belts?
Well that would require some sort of a clever rat which is a concept so ridiculous it makes me want to laugh out loud...
