As a new player to EVE I am still wondering what path to take. I have considered piracy but I think I would feel too guilty.
So then I thought about joining an anti-piracy organisation - which leads on to my question for all the pirates out there.
Which corporation (or alliance) has really impressed you with their ability to make piracy a pain. Which organisation do you know will do their utmost to hunt you down and exterminate you if you enter their region (successfully or not)...
They don't have to be uber PvPers but simply a corp or alliance that is consistently anti pirate...
I would just like to hear some honest (and non-smacky) opinions from the pirate community...

I feel I should inform you that guilt is but a momentary ailment. It's kind of like sea sickness, it'll go away after a while, but most people don't even get it in the first place.
Soon you may find yourself laughing with such maniacal glee you might forget to loot the wrecks.

Many of the corporations in the North consider themselves to be anti-pirate. Why there should be a breathalyzer to login to Eve:

Edited by: Katrina Kirellii on 12/01/2007 14:34:17 The best antipirate corps I have seen are usually tight associations who float up from 0.0 and kill a gate camp. Usually it is just for fun - they get bored and go... hey let us clean the chute.
In these instances - they usually have a cloaked ship sneak up on the pirates from behind and then everyone warps in on them. The battles I have heard of are 1 to 1 odds (but not the same ship size or type), but in reality a ship fit for REAL PvP is much different from a pirate setup. Sometimes a pirate does not actually do a setup to kill you quickly.
The best corps don't make a big deal about it. You never suspect until they hit. I am sure that people who take out Ginger Magician's carrier fall into this category. So the rumors say. I have heard of the YNC gate camp up in the Northwest being hit. I pity anyone who goes up against the like of Boo and his gang.
The small vigilante outfits usually only have success on people who kill newbs to be honest. One of my members got attacked in his Battlecruiser upon picking up a can and killed three pirates who had bad timing and warped in one at a time. So really it was like 3 one-on-one battles. These were people who were just toying with piracy - so really - probably does not count even.
In my tangles with Lukkat - I have always lost - although I have made him worry. Mostly - being an Anti-Pirate is boring unless you can hit the gate camps.
In the strict sense, my corp is not anti-pirate. We protect others who can't. I just hate rogues. Gate Camps who actually ransom are "okay". Privateers are alright. Anything that happens in 0.0 is fair game.
Being a Vigilante Anti-Pirate probably pays lots less than any other profession as most pirates you do manage to kill have crap on their crap ship.

I had an encounter with this alliance a month or so back. Yes they smack so much is hard to keep up if you even try to read it all. They brought 15+ ships to kill a Vexor

I see a huge difference. I had a big post prepared but the forums stole it, so I'll just say: biggest difference I see is anti-pies rarely engage out of a blob, pirates fight mostly solo/small gangs.
Sorry for the generalisation to any respectful anti-pies out there, but I have yet to meet any.

Pirates make the gameplay for most of the playerbase worse while anti - pirates make it better.
From a moral point of view piracy is despiccable while anti - piracy is respectable. Personally I frown upon piracy.

Real PVP pssh Caldari Please what boosters are you on?
PvP is PvP as long as there is a player shooting some other player be it they are in a shuttle, barge, osprey, hauler, carrier, battleship, HAC, etc.
I see your point of view but disagree. I know you want to see sneaking up on someone, tricking someone, or trapping someone into a fight as PvP outside of an honorable declared war. I really sympathize. I know you want to say - hey - low sec means you want to PvP. We both know that some just want a nice asteroid to mine, or are doing some sort of mission and may not even understand the danger. Sure they click - yes - but they may not know still.
I will tell you a story... This Pirate REALLY REALLY wanted a new ship - three in fact. He had been given the money by his corp to go buy them. Upon trying to go to market, he realized that his sec status was too low. So he puts up a Region buy order and cries for someone to fill it. Along comes an anti-pirate and goes hmmm - I am gonna raise that price and proceeds to raise the low bid up up up - to where it is not a bargain anymore. The pirate changes his buy order in frustration. Then the anti-pirate who had the ships places them where the pirate can never go anytime soon and sells them to the pirate across the region. Then the anti-pirate lowers the price of his buy order really low... Now the poor pirate can't get to the ships he bought and the only way to sell them is at a tremendous loss. OH MY! Weeks later, the pirate probably still has not told his friends he was market ganked by an anti-pirate. The ships sit in High Sec cause the pirate cannot fly them with any of his captains without telling the tale. I share this with you so you understand one thing. The pirate had no understanding of the fight ensuing in the PvP market. Neither do all the miners who see isk dancing before their eyes, or some big trade order, or some BPO or BPC they need to move...
REAL PvP is where both parties have consented to fight each other. Piracy is where one party is just trying to escape and has been webbed, scrambled, or sucked dry of energy to prevent the escape. Come on - you know this.
Anti-pirates killing pirates is the same unfortunately as the Pirates don't want a fair fight and may not be set up for one. So if you say Anti-pirates are a subset of pirates you might be right. Consensual is the key word.
However, even you can agree - though Privateers approach, most if not all Pirates are nothing like VETO or MC after they declare war on you for a client. Pirates are NOTHING like BoB destroying an ASCN.
Just keep it in perspective.
Before you feel too bad - I KNOW I AM NOT A VETO OR MC OR BoB. I can talk to them, and they would hope I show some respect for their accomplishments. However, my little fleets of 2 or 3 are not even in the league of a Blob or a well trained merc force.
I talked to Verone about this recently and you really have to know who you are and what you can and cannot do. He was quite polite in showing me I was not in the same league at all and very patient to wait for me to realize it on my own. I think that is what makes him a good leader. Most likely a better leader than I ever will be.
Deep thoughts, by Katrina Kirellii...

You know Gaint, when I was just out of school I decided to investigate these issues myself.
I went and observed neutrally, can thieves, ore thieves, scammers, gankers, pirates, and mercs. At the time, privateers were not much of a force.
I went from one side of Eve to the other, met lots of NPCs who wanted to kill me in belts and a few agents. I met some famous people like Boo and talked to others doing upright and nefarious deeds.
I then went to the Eve Gate and flew toward it for 6 hours straight and thought about WHAT I WANTED TO DO WITH MY LIFE. I suppose I could have shot a rock with a miner I from a Badger or some other such quiet activity.
What you are doing on the forums is okay... but it will never replace going there and listening in local or listening to a pirate teamspeak as they do business. Until then you won't respect the care that can go into building a gate camp, the layers of attack strategies, the safepoints and lookouts. You need to watch a can or ore thief in action and perhaps watch CONCORD descend on someone or a turret blow the unwary out of space.
You may get some blood on your hands in the process and then you need to consider... what do I want to do. Some of us are destined to be Pirates as that is where our joy and talents lie. Some of us want to give them a hard time. Some of us want to join Merc corps and may have leadership skills just wanting to come out. Some of us don't want a second job and just do missions or short stuff.
You are on the path of finding out. I applaud you for asking the questions and seeing what others think. This is right along the lines of learning from History.
I hope you choose the path the provides you the most enjoyment for your investment of time and money.
You did not ask for Anti-Pirates or those who believe themselves to hold to that razor thin line to respond to you. In specific, you did not ask me. I apologize for that interruption without YOUR CONSENT. There are many finely skilled people who are here and many more out there.
Good luck in your choice.

I setup to fight whether my target is capable of defending themselves or not. If there is money in it then I will shoot.
And again you try to define the acts of PvP which has been attempted so many times some guy even went as far as calling it player versus victim. In the event that One or more human mind is engaging one another with the resources at their disposal against another human doing the same be it they are the predator or the prey they are still playing the game and trying to come out on top against that other player hence it is PvP all because you have 7 425mm II's fitted or 3 Strip miner II's fitted doesn't mean you aren't trying to come out on top by any means necessary.

M did make one point that may need more strict following...
Since the poster asked for Corporations and Alliances that make piracy a pain, we should include more names of such.
In empire they are harder to track and find. Some might be listed in the Role Playing Corporations under the Recruitment sub forum.
In reality - all the alliances on the alliance map have to deal with Piracy when they are traveling to and from Empire from their alliance. There will always be some pirate who does not respect the outer ring of Alliances and blocks the chokepoints.
Some Alliances just smile as they pass the camps, others blow them away for fun. I imagine if the wrong hauler is shot, the Alliance deals with it swiftly if they can. It is possible that some Alliances condone it to protect their space from intruders. So really the piracy is just an aggressive bouncer so to speak.
So your answer is EASY if you deal with it from the ALLIANCE map perspective.
Once you get within the boundaries of Empire space, the definitions get blurry as many people want to see things as concretely from their view and do not want to even consider another person's viewpoint.
One might go out on a limb and say the Privateers are reacting to the Alliances because they are feeling pressure like the mission runners who cannot go to 0.0. It is possible that Piracy is the only trade they know so they are fighting back by attacking the Alliances for easy targets in a new way. Although there are still dark rumors that a particular Alliance might be funding this Piracy against others or perhaps punishing anyone who is in Empire instead of fighting in 0.0 like they are told.
Eve has many shades of intent.
