Now that CCP have made it easy to open a second account for just ú14 with the first 30 days play free, I was wondering how many existing players will think about opening a second or even third account?
I've been wanting a second account for some time but the boxed CD version is still retailing for ú29.99 in my local computer shop - no way I'm paying that for a simple CD-key. I think what CCP have done by allowing us to purchase extra accounts online is way over due and a smart move on thier part.
I for one will be taking advantage of this and will be getting a second account this very day!

Ive been thinking of it too, but do i need 2 computers to run 2 accounts?Ive noticed EVE using alot of memory...

i will get another account so that i can train skills on 2 chars at the same time,. it dosnt mather that i cant play them on the same time, just to be able to train 2 chars at once is worth the money i think, ú29.99 is no cash at all. thats less than a night on the pub costs for me

No you don't need 2 computers. My friend has 3 accounts and he can play all three at the same time in windowed mode with no problems. You just need to play in windowed mode and ALT TAB between them. He has a high spec PC (P4 2.8GHz processor and 512MB RAM), so if you have a computer with similar specs I dont think you'll have any problems
I'm not sure about lag though in regard to internet connection (he has broadband) but I think EVE uses a remarkably low amount of bandwith to run (remember reading about it somewhere) so that shouldn't be a problem either. Hopefully someone can answer this?

I'm already running 2 accounts from friends who have quit the game, but given the new quality of the forums and content due to be released in the coming 3 months, I suspect they'll want them back, so yes .. I'll be getting a second!

Now it would be nice if we could pay extra to train skills on all 3 characthers on the same account. That is an option I would have liked to see.

That will never happen. CCP wants a higher headcount(along with the $$$ of course).
They want to see the subscription numbers go up, that means more CD keys flying around out there...

I'll be getting another account now. With the new skills on their way players are going to have to begin specializing more and more (which IMHO is a good thing). So I'm getting another account thats going to be a pure manufacturer. An extra 12 dollars/month is not much really considering how much I love EVE!

Probably one third of EVE's subscribers have more then one account. Even Hellmar commented on it a while back. Some have more then two or three in fact.

If they would make it completely for free that i could get a new account, i and many of my collegue's here on my job would get a new / second account.
Still im thinking of getting a account for my girl, just for christmas.  I bet she would be sooo happy.

its over priced anyway bearing in mind your origional price ú29.99 covers all updates support etc.
then u pay half what your ISP charges a month for a server.
with profit margins etc etc there making 300% profit at a rough stab. Not bad for a bunch of eskimos :P

Yes, you can run 2 or even 3 accounts from one PC at the same time.

I run two instances fairly well on a crappy computer. The key is the amount of memory. The more the better.

512 megs of memory

i used to run 3 on 2.4 ghz 1gig ram...but now i run two (from the same directory - seems to be something others arent able to do, so wtf?) and it works fine...

Was thinking about doing it for a while. The new system made it that easy I could not resist. So heres my alt char.
My main char is mainly a combat based character and I don't want to waste time on refining L5 and such like when Large energy turret L5 is begging to be done.
The monthly fee is reasonable, I live in London where a night on the town costs ú100. I'm also supporting the game I love. It also gives you better access to a range of skills you normally would not bother with. Prob is I now have trouble keeping track of my scouts.

2 Accounts is the ONLY way to play this or any other MMORPG that's worth the monthly fee !
I make enough isk in-game with 2 accounts to enable me to buy 1-2 battleships per month, if that's what I wanted to do... Currently own 2 BS's and a slew of cruisers and some frigates.
SWEET routinely sells BPC's in Sing Laison and Essence Regions. |

I'm thinking of cancelling all of my accounts.
Incidentally, yes you can run three simultaneously on one fast machine. I do it sometimes, but two at once is a lot more tolerable.
CCP has begun banning people for selling EVE items and isk on ebay. In the past they said they'd look the other way if no scams were involved but they are now banning people without warning.
This is the wrong thing for them to do for so many reasons. They have taken one of my good friends out of the game. I'm not sure these bastards deserve to get any more of my money.
