So here's what I like:
Armor Tanking
Missiles and Turrets
Taking things from point A to B
I'm currently Gallante, what are the differences in what race's ships are good at what? And I'm a very new newbie (4 days of EVE!) Should I stay with Gallante or switch before its too late?

Armor Tanking - Yes, Gallente
Turrets - Yes
Missiles - Not so much, some ships yes, but mostly turrets
Taking things from point A to B - Sure, why not, i haven't yet lusted after another race's indy.
Honestly, if you spend months flying gallente ships, then say hmm i want to fly <insert other race here> T1 ships, it doesn't take that long to learn it. I went from having 0 missile SP and 0 Caldari ship command SP to flying a Raven w/ cruise missiles in two weeks.
T2 ships take a bit longer, because of the lvl V requirements so look at T2 ship types and stats before you decide, but even switching those is doable if you want to, it just may take a month or two to get the basic ship command skills trained up.

Gallente have a fine group of ships. Missiles are overrated, and after I switched to guns, I barely picked up a missile launcher again.

Gallente are great at the moment if you like drones, but to be honest they're so rapable (the larger blaster ships) now with nos.

You can always cross-train to fly ships from different races. I can fly all racial frigates/destroyers/cruisers. Most people cross-train to fly other race's ship @ some point. |
