I will likely get flamed and told "you acted stupidly" with this but here's my question and here's what I did:
I traded for someone for isk in exchange for a ship with rigs, or at least I was told it had rigs. Unfortunately I didn't think that the seller might be selling me a ship without rigs for an inflated price.
Thus, I gave him iskies through the trade window(not contract, etc) for the ship which turned out not to have rigs.
Now I guess I can count this as an expensive lesson learned in buying\selling in Eve, but my question is, are transaction traceble when they are made through the trade window?
Thanks.

Well, don't quite understand what you mean by traceable. If you just want to know the name of the guy that ripped you off, here's what you do:
Open wallet -> click transactions-tab and you will see something like "direct trade xxx.xx isk" and there you go...
Now, now that you have the name, all you gotta do is to go out and gank him

It's traceable, but I hope you aren't thinking about petitioning it, this is something that Eve actively encourages and at best, you'll get reminded of this, at worst they'll ban you for wasting their time :) ************************************************
Yes, I know I have a negative sec. status but I'm not a pirate damnit! |

hehe good plan there.
I know I've been had. But still, in my wallet there appears to be no place to refer back to that trade window deal. At this point it just an object of curiousity more than anything. I just cannot see where those transactions are tracked.

yeh i was wondering when people would start doing this kind of scam. it makes life harder for those who want to trade them legitimately :(

Your lucky you even got a ship out of it.
Don't know them WELL, then demand a Contract of Item Exchange. |
