Since Revelations hit the only news I remember reading about the new regions was the construction of the first outpost in the area, aside from that there has been little if any info about what’s happening up there, which is a dam shame since it’s something we’ve never seen before – that is completely fresh 0.0 space that hasn’t had any previous political history just opened up and made available to alliances that have SO many more toys to play with - such as capital ships and Outposts - than when Eve was evolving and the first alliances began to form, its kind of like what is happening on the China server, just with more SP and more ISK.
Since Joshua's Political map of eve isnt quite up to date, i got bored and made a little map. White circles are Outposts.
It seems there’s a lot happening out there and its happening quickly too, with six outposts up and large numbers of systems being claimed with POS sovereignty, one thing I want to know is...
Why have we not been reading anything about what’s happening up there? Seriously even some smack on the alliance forums would be nice but as it stands not much has been said about life, politics and war in the new regions, and particularly the new inhabitants.
Ka-Tet [K] is a name I’ve not heard of before, they only formed in October last year yet are listed (with eve-o’s very out of date info – it says they claim no systems) as having 502 pilots with only 3 corporations, that is of course a VERY high pilot / corp ratio and is exactly the thing that makes a select few alliances in eve very strong. Should probaley come as no surprise then that they have 3 outposts already, except it does to me, that’s dam impressive work. Anyone remember seeing any [K] press releases though?
Dark Matter Coalition [DMC] Also only formed in October but looks to be more your typical small alliance, 11 corps, 348 pilots, one thing interesting is that it appears GUARD has ownership of an outpost on the edge of DMC’s space, away from there own borders. So whats the deal there? Did GUARD take it? Or just build it in some kind of partnership or treaty?
The Pentagram... whoTF are The Pentagram?
RED alliance seems to have found the time to put up an Outpost while fighting LV, that’s vaguely surprising given most are under the impression they are all about the pew pew pew and currently slaughtering LV (heh!) but then they are annoyingly well organised, gotta wonder why they even need more space though, killing KOS wasn’t a big enough comeback already?
As for PURE and O X I D E, well I got a C on alliance history so I’ll just stop there and hope someone fills me in.
“and the point of this thread is?” I’m wondering what’s going on aside from BOB/ASCN/ISS/IAC/D2/ETC, and the new regions are a scenario that has not happened anywhere before, sometimes the small unnoticed stuff is the most interesting...nah scratch that... ...TELL ME STOREYS PEOPLE!
If someone posts saying the whole place is NAPland, I’m going pirate.

I think most new players to the game have problems getting interested in the politics. Its a lot of stuff going on, but almost no information that explains the origins of the alliance or what their goals and history are. Who are the leaders? What are they like? Why do they do it? Why do people follow them? That sort of stuff is needed to create an interest I think.

Ka-Tet did actually make an announcement they were in the new regions. But as everyone so quickly pointed out, that wasn't necessarily a good idea - for reasons I'd hope were obvious.
That also answers your question as to why nobody is letting the whole of eve know they've just spent billions building an outpost which would cost merely millions to conquer. -omg-

That is a very good point, although I can’t help thinking that with this much ISK at stake there should be at least some fighting for control, in fact I rather expected the whole area to be more a militaristic claiming of territories than industrial expansion.
Actually I guess it would make sense if there was near complete peace throughout the new regions, if your setting up outposts and moving in large amounts of equipment and fuel etc, you don’t want your neighbours poping eggs or killing freighters and since everyone around you is in the same boat war is bad for everyone’s operations... but.. man that’s just boreing!

You've gotta remember also that the new regions require a very well organized industrial backbone for people to function properly in. No bounties means no instant spending ISK. The whole area will eventually be a massive anti-inflationary measure in the economy since they're just going to be dumping piles and piles of materials in without generating any new ISK. But the corrollary of this is that in order to have spending money in Empire for all the NPC goods they need, or POS fuel that needs to be imported, they've got to be out there actively trading. A war, could be alot more difficult then it normally is.

True, that makes it much harder for both individual players and corps to make isk, normally any large industrial corp could arrange to buy minerals directly from its members, but since with no rat bounties the corp earns no tax’s from its members that could be a quick way to bankrupt the corp.
I assume that system would still work but the corp would have to make regular shipments of high end ores to empire to keep itself afloat.

Ratting at the minute is very profitable, though the value of the extracted minerals is falling. So its not hard to make individual profits, mining isn't too good with the poor ore respawn but i'm sure it'll get sorted some time
Annnd i can assure its not all NAPland, mostly just as James Duar said need a lot of industry to get going otherwise its a lot of effort hauling everything up from empire so people seem to be keeping to themselves. Though there was that time when Rule of Three decided they didn't like my alliance that much and a couple of nights of dread fun followed until we managed to persuade them that we weren't really worth attacking .

Edited by: Zaethiel on 13/01/2007 21:32:26 The new areas have DMC and Pentagram who seem to be D2's *****es. Rule of three are Rzr friends i think and Ka-tet are Red alliance friendly. In the middle of everything is us. Blood raiders was at war with Ka-tet and Rule of three who disliked us bc they thought we were bob spies or something ridiculous, but whatever. We relinquished our outpost to someone they can trust and now we are all friends. Idk who GAURD are but i've never seen them. As for Pure, they think we are Red alliance spies but they are retarded so who cares. Several other people also think we are D2 spies Outbreak spies LV spies. Who can guess who else they think we are part of, but whatever. Our alliagances are our business and all of you are wrong about us being puppets of those large alliances. _________________________________________
