Billy Antollarenti,
Click little gear to right of your Profile name on the launcher. It'll say 'edit profile'. In the new dialog box that comes up drag your old profile over to the right under Tranq to update the profile. Then click on your profile name's radio box (once again, at the little gear icon) to choose it as your profile to use when you start game. Not very intuitive but ... |

Same error also for me, tried the new launcher and lost all my settings like people before me. The launcher claims to have copied the preivous settings but.. well, you know. With multiple characters this mac client stuff is starting to be a real pain in the ass. |

i have the launcher issue too: launcher says 'update was unsuccessful' and opens the stacktrace or whatever.
however, i was able to get around that: problem is, that the link to the 'current' version in awesomium framework seems to be missing. so since the current version right now seems to be 1.0, you can do the following.
open terminal and type away: cd /Applications/EVE\ Online.app/Contents/Resources/EVE\ Online.app/Contents/Frameworks/Awesomium.framework/Versions/ ln -s 1.0/ Current
next time the update works, but the link seems to get deleted by every update, so i guess until ccp fixes this, you will have to do this again for the next update. |

I'm getting tired of paying out money and not getting everything the game has to offer.
I totally agree with you.
I'm actually kind of shocked that CCP was okay with releasing this for OS X users after multiple complaints about the same issue.
At first I was only having the IGB issue with the beta launcher, so I quickly went back to using the old launcher.
I realized today after patching that CCP has implemented this browser issue into this version of the client, leaving me without any workaround whatsoever.
Our alliance keeps track of member participation through the IGB with PAP Links (participation links.) So even though this isn't a big deal for some, the IGB is a vital tool for many others.
Some feedback would be greatly appreciated. |

The link keeps on getting deleted for me too. It looks like the launcher bounces between downloading a 6.65MB and 13.10MB patch. You can copy instead of linking (which may break future updates), but fixes the immediate problem.

Wish I had known before spending real money on buying Eve that buying Eve on Steam for Mac OSX was a total waste of money
Eve is 100% unplayable now. IGB hangs the game and new release features ARE NOT WORKING on OSX. I can't use ANY tools required by my corp. I can't even be in game long enough without crashing to mine a single asteroid.
SO WTF CCP. You've completely screwed MAC OS users. Game is a NO GO. Non-starter. Do we get a refund? Do we get some refund Pilots Licenses? Refund loot from this holidays activities? DO WE EVER GET A PLAYABLE GAME THAT DOESN'T CRASH!?!?!!??!?!?!
Get your f'ing act together already.
At this point I seriously demand a refund and compensation for not being able to participate in any in game activity due to the fact that MAC OS users are second class citizens and Eve simply DOES NOT WORK NOW.
STUPID crashing and the IGB crashing Eve every time. I'm freaking PISSED OFF. I want a refund. YOU guys can seriously DO OVER your entire Frost events when the freaking game works for all players.
This rant is NOT off. I'll rant and RANT some more until OS X users are treated on par with the other people. We PAY the same price to play and DEMAND the same level of service.

Has the issue with the patch not updating on mac been fixed?? To be frank, it is unacceptable that users have to use a "beta" launcher to make their game work due to the "stable" launcher being broken. |

Hi CCP et al
Frostline update has broken the game from my point of view.
- MacBookPro11,1 - Intel Iris GPU - OS 10.10.2
(1) "Client update was unsuccessful" followed by an exception and traceback with launcher "967872"
(2) re-installed client via EVE support page "Re-installing the launcher" > https://support.eveonline.com/hc/en-us/articles/202664365-Reinstalling-the-Launcher but that had the same "Client update was unsuccessful" failure.
(3) Have then followed advice above in this thread to use a different launcher version - not mentioned on the support page - version "988834" *but* on running this launcher I get an error "There was an error writing a file to disk" and my launcher is just sitting there. It doesn't appear to be launching the client? Just keeps opening up this pop-up error?
At least with the "967872" Launcher you got a "launch EVE" button after the "client update" error, but that crashed badly and often.
So, at least at this point, the advice above to try the "988834" launcher is not a solution for my situation.
------------ UPDATE -----------
I'm not exactly sure why but on a subsequent attempt I was able to log in. However despite using the "settings migration" tool somehow all my settings have been lost?
Of interest to some *SO FAR* my IGB is working - there is a quick pause to the game when opening the browser but it has so far not crashed the game. |

Hey guys,
"Official" Mac Os client has so many issues... Market, IGB, Random Assert Crashes - it's impossible to play in such a way.
I really recommend to use Crossover (Maybe free PlayOnmac or WineBottler would also help, i haven't tested em) with Windows EvE Client. If you want a normal game experience on Mac Os - this is the only way. I'm using using Crossover for about 2 months - 0 crashes, 0 UI lags, 0 update problems.

Thank you for the beta-link.
The launcher is better than the old, but...
- I have to new-install all my settings - InGameBrowser freezes the client
So, EVE is not playable for me, need IGB for WH-action!

Same issue as previous posters, same frustrations.. doesn't make any sense at all that the stable launcher is broken, with no explanation ( did i miss that being explained ? ) and told to use a beta launcher... what the heck is going on ????
Edit : Trying the new launcher now.. I see that it gives ability to migrate old settings.. so maybe this will be ok.. just now downloading patch.. |

After restarting the client after downtime today I got the same issue, a huge thank to Saubier for solving it so elegantly. I'm a little surprised that wasn't incorporated into todays patch but I would be very surprised if it's not solved by tomorrows patch.
Also Yesterday I had the same issue with the IGB not working at all, just a black screen which if you closed the IGB window crashed my client. Today it's now once again working so a huge thank you to CCP for the fast response. I got the impression that todays patch also involved Cider updates.

Had a thought this morning on the IGB. Since it doesn't work at all for OSX and crashes the game making every one who plays on OS X gankbait in wormholes, lowsec and null, please disable the IGB browser for ALL users so to level the playing field. OSX users are at a severe disadvantage in wormhole space when our windows friends have so many tools available to them. OSX users get to crash and be destroyed while we reboot our systems. Hardly a fair or fun gaming experience. Disabling the IGB for all users OS X and Windows would make it the same for all. Then CCP can have the entire user base screaming at them for the same thing. Rather the just the mostly ignored OSX group. |

Whilst that would certainly raise the profile of the issue, The effect would be catastrophic, we may only represent 10-20% of the player base, but as someone said that we matter too.
As CCP appear to be being restricted from doing ANY work on the IGB, whether by an out of touch middle manager or institutional inertia that has not yet been purged, It is ESSENTIAL that they get the tools to replace the IGB out as a matter of the highest Priority.
They are doing amazing work in so many areas, It is almost impossible to comprehend just how badly they are treating this issue.
I hope CCP Seagull can root out this toxic attitude, It has no place in such a fantastic product.

Tar-Palantir can confirm the finding of saubier as applied to the traditional/"old"/non-beta Eve Launcher (2.2.967872 after patching - not sure what the number was before the recent patch - would have to restore from a backup copy if you need that). Tar-Palantir patched two independent Mac Eve client installs on two different Macs on two completely different networks. In both cases, they patched both the client and the Eve Launcher. For both, after quitting and relaunching the Eve Launcher they got the Exception error upon attempting to create a patch/update for the Eve client stating that the path for the Awesomium framework was not valid "No such file or directory" (can provide full text from the Eve launcher logs if that is useful). This then leading to a "Update failed" error in the Eve Launcher.
Looking thru the directory tree of the Eve Launcher package down to the path of the Awesomium framework, Tar-Palantir confirms that on both clients, the Folder/Directory "Current" is missing. Under normal circumstances and by OS app development standards, there should be a directory tree that contains the version number, and a separate directory tree that is called "Current". Generally the "Current" Directory entry is a symbolic link to the directory name that has a version number in the name (though you do find some application bundles where they just have a duplicate copy of the tree rather than a symbolic link, though pretty sure that isn't best practices).
~/EVE Online.app/Contents/Resources/EVE Online.app/Contents/Frameworks/Awesomium.framework/Versions/
total 0 drwx------ 3 user group 102 Dec 8 11:37 . drwx------ 5 user group 170 Dec 8 11:37 .. drwx------ 5 user group 170 Dec 8 11:37 1.0
Re-creating the symbolic link "Current" pointing to the directory tree with the version number in the name allows the Eve Launcher to launch without error. That looks like this:
drwx------ 4 user group 136 Dec 9 11:01 . drwx------ 5 user group 170 Dec 8 11:37 .. drwx------ 5 user group 170 Dec 8 11:37 1.0 lrwx------ 1 user group 4 Dec 9 11:01 Current -> 1.0/
The next patch the Eve Launcher applies however once more deletes the "Current" directory symbolic link entry and you are broken once more. You can once more restore the symbolic link, but upon launch the Eve launcher once more go thru its creating patch routine and delete the symbolic link. This loops with each re-creation of the symbolic link and relaunch of the Eve Launcher (create sym link to fix, launch Eve launcher, it works, but deletes the sym link so next launch it will be broken again).
The Beta Eve Launcher does not have these problems.
Guess this is one way to get everyone to move to the Beta Eve Launcher..
If you need further information, just let Tar-Palantir know. Professional Mac Sys-admin - hunting stuff down like this and yelling at vendors is what he does.

the beta launcher no matter which version crashes on my system right on startup. clicking the beta launcher icon leads to a segfault.
however, patching with the old client worked without any issues. the eve client runs perfectly.
only the IGB launches with a black page and crashes the client on closing window. the client doesn't crash on minimising the window.
launching the client with the old now post-patch launcher raises the exception. launching the client with the binary works nicely.
suggestions?
btw, new starmap, system map, dscan map, probe map all work great \o/

This is also broken for me!
I run 3 accounts with applications created by Eve Clonemaker. Really poor service from CCP to release something that doesn't work for any Mac users - how on earth did that happen?
I tried reinstalling the launcher but that didn't work and I am seriously reluctant to use the beta launcher.
Fortunately the IGB issues are not critical for me but the temporary freezes when opening Market and Industry are a complete pain x3

This is actually the first time I have ever had a major problem starting eve.
I got the exception error involving -> OSError: [Errno 2] No such file or directory: '/Applications/Games/EVE Online.app/Contents/Resources/EVE Online.app/Contents/Frameworks/Awesomium.framework/Awesomium' It was a flood of emotions.
Did a little digging and found people had success with the Client Repair Tool. Not sure where it is on a Mac. So I downloaded it. http://content.eveonline.com/client_repair/351/EveRepairTool.tgz
Super easy to run. Open choose Eve. Sit back enjoy a quick beverage.
I have not looked into the tool beyond the link other than to find some old pages that say the tool does not work for the mac. Hoping this is the first and last time I need it. All I can say is ... it should be easier to find.

Sucks I can't play. Sucks that if I wish to attempt fixing on my own, I have to sort through pages of unofficial comments and guess which BETA software launcher might work and what sort of side effects to expect.
