I might sign it a bit later, as Firefly was pretty fun. Didn't deserve to be cut of after its first series like that, thats for sure.
I'll bet my bottom dollar it won't work, though. The only time cancelled shows have ever been brought back have done so on the strength of massive DVD sales, not petitions. And Firefly just doesn't have massive sales.
If you want to bring it back, go buy the series and film on DVD. Watch it. Enjoy it. Have fun. If enough people do, they'll make more. -----------------------------------------------

Hrm? Firefly had extremely good DVD sales.
The above petition is useless, though. Fox has the TV rights for at least a few more years. The legal realities mean that nobody else will be picking it up until then.

Hmm. I've never seen Firefly, but Serenity was absolutely terrible, IMO. ---

Yeah - puzzled by that one too. Cancelled shows don't get made into motion pictures either, but the pressure from Joss Whedon and the fanbase made it happen. But yeah - Fox won't be letting go of there copyright anytime soon, with recent new that Fox looking at a Firefly MMO why would they let someone else cash in on their 'intellectual property'?

The problem with making more Firefly episodes is that Serenity pretty much resolved most of the remaining plot points and killed off some of the main cast. Personally I doubt that Firefly can be continued after Serenity. -----------------

It will never happen. I love Firefly as much as the next rabid fan, but the poor intake for Serenity doomed any chance of the series coming back.

Haven't seen the series but I thought that Serenity was pretty bad. When I saw the great reviews of it I was so puzzled... but then again I just saw "Children of Men" which is being called "a masterpiece" and I thought it was a pile of liberal "lets-use-direct-references" junk. Granted most of the eve forum members are Euro, movies like that will be right at home with a lot of you I am sure. :) -Steve

Children Of Men was brilliant, I'll thank you very much. And none too little disturbing, too.
Probably worse if you're English- you see so many disturbing films set in the alien-looking American settings, its certainly refreshingly horrifying to see a devestated london, Gulags in Tube Stations, and seeing Royal Army men executing people. Chilling stuff. -----------------------------------------------

No wonder you're not enjoying Serenity if you haven't seen the series... That's like watching a season finale for a completely unknown show and not getting it. ------- My posts reflect my own personal views. I'm in this alliance for the fun, not for forum wars. |

Interesting. Firefly works because it is the final frontier (space) and the idea of unknown country gives off the cowboy idea.
Anyway there are a number of things that Joss could do like explain what the preacher had to do with the alliance etc. Any number backstories are possible.

Joss Whedon has gone on record saying he doesn't want to have anything to do with Fox. And they have the rights to Firefly, so its unlikely that there is ever going to be a second season of the show.
But DVD sales of both series 1 and the spin-off feature film, Serenity are going steady. So despite low box office revenue there may well be a Serenity 2 some day.

fox is going to trash the MMO project. They have choosen a horrible engine to build it on... Next thing you know EA will buy up rights to firefly...
Great movie, as mentioned above, you needed to have seen the series to truely appreciate it.

Children of Men was good... but it was hardly brilliant. It certainly wasn't as entertaining as Serenity... or Firefly... of course, Firefly is Sci-Fi and Children of Men is political... apples to oranges. Anywho, Firefly won't get brought back. Why? Simple. It was too low budget, FOX screwed it up the first time it got airred by playing episodes out of order, and Serenity (though being great) didn't do near well enough at the box office. Way too many people said, "Space-western? Sounds too different." FOX will continue with the "rich kids with too much time and money" TV teamed with reality shows and COPS. Its a crying shame, but the world wasn't ready for Firefly then, and it certainly won't open its arms for it today. We at Eve-O would, but we at Eve-O are barely even a percentage of what it takes to get a show on and keep it running. --- --- --- ---

Actually Children Of Men was science fiction, while Serenity was a space opera, if you're going by academic definitions
Its all rubbish though, sci fi is sci fi is sci fi, IMO. Serenity and CoM were different films- one was light hearted action in space, the other was a political / social commentary. Both sci fi though.
I liked Serenity and Firefly- they were entertaining, action packed, had witty scripts, and so forth. I prefer serious SF, though. -----------------------------------------------

Jewel Staite = hottest woman alive! Morena is sexy too... and Summer Glau is so cute and innocent. :D
Firefly needs to come back to TV. Fox sucks. I mean, they suck hard. The only reason they ever aired Firefly to begin with is because they wanted another season of Buffy. Cancel an awesome show so that you can air a mediocre show. Great business plan.
