As Tabo as the topic is, I want to talk about it. I built a Rokh lastnight and used it for mining, but since I am not a miner it wasn't so awesome, due to my skills.
I used this set up: 8 x T2 Mining 4 x Mining Laser Upgrade (1 x Co-processor needed)
After reading Halada's guide, I know that an Apoc could mine better then a Retrevier. (Pg. 20 of the Guide) 8 x T2 mining Laser 3 x MLU Well since the Rokh can fit 8 x T2 Mining lasers and 4 x MLU it should mine really well. My problem is that I have low skills in mining (Astro. Geo. 2)(mining 4).
Anyone who uses this setup, how do you find it for mining?

I haven't personally tried it yet but thought about it and I'd theoretically mine 40% faster in that setup compared to the Retriever I can fly (astrogeo and mining 4, barge 3, T1 strip miners vs. T2 miners), which is nice for something I can already fly and which could also be refit for combat without having to dump another month into training for the larger barge.
The main thing keeping me from doing this is an alt who already mines in a Covetor, and the fact that I'd possibly get RSI if I tried to mine close to 900 m¦ per minute into a 625 m¦ cargo hold (which was the reason I got a Retriever to begin with - a lot more convenient for semi-AFK mining)

I like it. Its a lot of ore dragging though, the hold fills up in 30 seconds...

Like I said under Haldada's guide, I am flying that configuration. It works really well but my Covetor on my alt account still kicks my arse when it comes to mining. Works as a really decent combo for the Omber missions, run the first 4 on cycle one, wait 15 secs then start next 4. Fills a can almost as decent as my Covetor. Mind you he has mining 5, astro 5 and a barge...
Not to mention I have the drone bay for 5x medium for rats spawning that more than hold their own. His piddly 3x light has a harder time not loosing a drone to frigate and destroyer size rats.

I wouldnt bother using it for combat. It sucks long time. Its only for sniper support in a fleet with maxed gunnary skills. Other than that it's fragile, cap drinking , ..this is best for mining

Well, i use a rokh for mining in 0.0 with this char, and a hulk in the other :)
Atm my rokh mines and tanks 0.0 rats :)
Here it is:
8 Miner T2 -- Mining Amount - 95.256 m3
2 ACtive Hardners 1 Passive Hardner 1 F-S9 Regoliath Shield Induction 1 XL Converse
2 Mining Laser Upgrade 2 CPU II 1 Mark I Modified SS Expanded Cargo
Like i said this tanks the rats, so when i get ****ed of, i just get in my raven n let the hulk tank em til they are gone :)) Sig must be less than 24000 bytes with max dimensions 400W x 120H - Cathath |

*shakes head* an extender and a shield booster. People just don't have a clue about tanking NPC's.
Anyhow, I use 8 T2 miners and my lows are full of local hull expanders so I can mine 3 minutes straight without emptying my cargo if I remember correctly.

Why would you waste the Lows on Cargo Expanders? You are missing out on the Added Bonus that 4 MLUs give you. Which is the only reason to use the Rokh over a Retriever for mining. If you stager the activation of the lasers, you will never fill the cargo hold, you will though be moving ore ever 30 seconds.
But to not fit MLU x 4 is wasting the lows IMO on this ship. ------------------------------------- The difference between a Pirate and an Anti-Pirate is that an Anti-Pirate fights ships fitted with guns!

I think with a gang bonus.. mining 5, astro 4.. then 4 MUGs is fine. if you don't have astro4, then you won't hit 8 per cycle anyway, so you can drop a MUG for more tank. Also if you just want more tank, you can go down to 2-3 MUG and go for the 7x8 per cycle with a decent tank running, over 8x8 per cycle with not so good of tank.

Personally Id try hoarding 8x wild I mining lasers... T2 output with T1 cpu and skill req(Gal cosmos)
or use 8x DCML's ? either way a DG cpu is a small price to pay to deal with whatever hell DCML's + MLU's could stir up.

The Rokh is the best Battleship mining platform.
I suggest you try to scram as many MLU as you can on there, and THEN fit a tank if you can. MLU make noticeable differences!

Fragile LoL, are you drunk?! Rokh can easily tank a max-skilled Blasterthron, do you armor-tank it?!
